I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 155

By the time she returned to work in the afternoon, Bonnie had composed herself.

From her initial disbelief, to her inability to understand, and now to this very moment, all that remained in her heart was absolute disappointment and hatred.

It turned out some people were simply born without a conscience.

She had spent the last five years playing the role of the farmer in the story of the Farmer and the Viper, feeding her true feelings, time, and blood, sweat, and tears to a venomous snake.

Just before her shift ended, Caleb sidled up to Bonnie's desk again.

He lowered his voice, speaking mysteriously. "Bonnie, did you hear? That Mr. York..."

"From now on, do not mention Mr. York to me."

Bonnie didn't even look up, her voice colder than ice.

Caleb froze, the rest of his sentence caught in his throat, and he awkwardly shut his mouth.

Hospitals were never short on gossip, and he had already caught wind of the rumors between Bonnie, Seraphina, and Mr. York.

Seraphina paraded around the pavilion every day acting like a literal lifesaver, constantly picking on Bonnie with so much hostility it was as if she wanted to stab her.

But in Caleb's eyes, Bonnie wasn't the kind of person to steal credit from anyone.

If anything, it felt more like Seraphina was guilty of stealing Bonnie's credit and terrified she would one day take it back.

If that were true, that Mr. York was completely blind, worshipping the wrong savior.

But since Bonnie didn't want to talk about it, he naturally stood by her unconditionally and would keep his mouth shut.

"Who's in charge here? Who prescribed the medicine for Bed Twelve on the third floor of the inpatient ward? Get the hell out here!"

A piercing shriek suddenly echoed through the lobby, followed by a loud bang as someone slammed a hand onto the front desk.

Hearing "Bed Twelve," Bonnie's temples throbbed. That was the room she had delivered medicine to at noon.

She instantly dropped what she was doing and hurried out. "Hello, is there a problem?"

"A problem? The problem is huge!"

The moment the middle-aged woman saw her, she went off like a lit firecracker, pointing right at her nose and yelling.
