A flash of disgust crossed Quentin's eyes.
He suddenly stood up, his tall frame towering over the two of them.
"Suit yourselves then."
He adjusted his suit cuffs, his voice devoid of any warmth.
"I've warned you. If you insist on this reckless path, bear the consequences yourselves."
With that, he turned and strode out of the room.
Parrish watched him leave, his brows furrowed tightly.
He couldn't fathom why Quentin would turn down the massive temptation of half the York family's power.
"Don't worry."
Parrish pulled his gaze back and comforted Vivian.
"He just got back to the country and doesn't understand the intricacies of the local business world. He's still holding onto his pride. I won't let it get to the point where we actually have to marry."
Vivian glanced at him, the corner of her lips curving up slightly.
"Let's hope so."

Meanwhile, Bonnie Hayes was in a terrible mood over the recent patient dispute at the clinic.
Even though a video had cleared things up, she had still ended up taking the blame.
To protect her, Dr. Zimmerman had to suspend her temporarily and send her home to rest.
After dinner, she focused her attention on flipping through her medical books.
Normally, Quentin would have been home by now.
But today, the clock on the wall was almost pointing to nine when there was finally some movement at the entryway.
Bonnie hurried over to greet him.
Even though Quentin had said he didn't want to hear her explanation, she still wanted to clear the air about seeing Parrish, just so he wouldn't misunderstand her again.
However, when the door opened, the sight before her took her by surprise.
Quentin was practically slumped against Jasper Ford. His usually cold, arrogant face was flushed with an unnatural heat.
The top two buttons of his tailored shirt were torn open, revealing a glimpse of his refined collarbone, and he reeked of strong alcohol.
"What happened to him?"
Bonnie was terrified and quickly stepped forward to help support him.
Jasper was sweating profusely. As he helped haul Quentin inside, he explained breathlessly,
"He was in a bad mood today and had a few too many drinks with some friends. He doesn't usually touch alcohol, so it hit him hard."
As they spoke, Quentin, who had his eyes closed, seemed to hear Bonnie's voice.
He furrowed his brows deeply, and without any warning, shoved Jasper away.
