After all, Vivian couldn't possibly know what they were doing right now.
Could it be... Quentin was using her to heal a broken heart?
After all, Vivian used to be his private nurse, and so was she.
Was he looking for a replacement?
Bonnie's mind was a chaotic mess. While she was caught up in these wild thoughts, a somewhat muffled voice sounded above her head.
"Did Parrish ever hold you like this when you slept?"
Bonnie instantly froze.
She never expected Quentin to suddenly bring up that man.
In this intimate, quiet night, that name felt exceptionally grating.
Bonnie didn't know how to answer.
She didn't dare tell the truth, terrified of angering this temperamental man.
After all, no man wanted to hear about his wife's past with an ex.
But she couldn't lie to him either.
Gritting her teeth, she whispered, "Do I have to answer that?"
Quentin fell silent.
The arm draped around her shoulder subconsciously tightened its grip.
How could he not know the answer? Parrish had definitely held her like this.
They had shared a bed for five years, spending countless nights in a cramped apartment.
At the thought of that image, Quentin's chest tightened painfully, a violent surge of dark emotion breeding wildly in his heart.
But he took a deep breath, forcefully crushing those dark thoughts down.
It's fine.
He told himself over and over in his mind.
They would have plenty of time in the future. Ten five-year spans, twenty five-year spans... a lifetime.
He would use the time ahead to erase every single trace that man had left on her, piece by piece.
"Quentin... you're holding me too tight. It hurts."
Bonnie couldn't breathe properly and quietly protested.
Quentin snapped back to reality, his grip loosening slightly.
But he still didn't let her go.
"Go to sleep," he muttered, dropping the two words heavily.
