I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 194

She stared at Quentin's eternally stoic, iceberg-like face. "Weren't you totally shocked when you figured it out?"

Quentin looked into her sparkling eyes and slowly spat out one word.

"Shocked."

But what he didn't say was that, beneath the shock, he felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

Gratitude that she hadn't gotten lost during all those years of hardship, and gratitude that, after everything, she had still managed to find her way to his side.

Bonnie pouted. "How are you just as boring as the little boy I vaguely remember? I don't see an ounce of shock on your face. But whatever, this is actually way better!"

Bonnie practically vibrated with excitement. "We don't even have to lie! We can put all our cards on the table. If we use this to mess with Parrish, that jerk will absolutely lose his mind!"

Hearing her words, Quentin's brows slowly furrowed together. "Is pissing him off the only thing you care about?"

Bonnie nodded like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Obviously? Isn't making him mad the whole point? Otherwise, why would you bring me to his engagement party today?"

Now that she knew Quentin was the blurry little boy from her childhood memories, Bonnie found herself feeling incredibly relaxed around him.

She no longer felt the stiff formality she had before, openly speaking whatever crossed her mind.

She even leaned in closer, a spark of gossip in her eyes. "By the way, what exactly is the beef between you and Parrish?"

Quentin stared at her, an inexplicable fire igniting in his chest.

He had told her about the Legacy Betrothal hoping she would finally take their current relationship seriously.

But what was she doing?

Her mind and words were entirely consumed with how to get back at her ex.

Did she really just want to piss him off, or had she never truly gotten over that man?

Quentin stared coldly ahead, the temperature in the car plummeting to absolute freezing.

"He stole something I deeply cherished." His voice was as cold as ice.

Bonnie wanted to dig deeper, to ask exactly what precious thing Parrish had stolen from him.

But the moment she saw Quentin's violently darkened expression, she smartly swallowed her questions.
