Truthfully, he was a terrible kisser—reckless and uncoordinated, clearly a complete novice.
Despite having no idea what he was doing, he had insisted on holding her in a death grip, biting at her like a wild animal until her lips were numb and stinging.
Otherwise, how else could her lipstick have ended up smeared all over his mouth?
The thought made Bonnie's face burn even hotter, and her breathing hitched unnaturally.
"All done."
She hastily withdrew her hand, crumpling the wipe into her palm. "I'm going to the restroom to touch up my makeup. Quentin, wait here for me for just a second."
Quentin's brow immediately snapped into a fierce scowl.
Seeing his expression, Bonnie knew the man assumed she was just making another excuse to run away from Parrish.
She frantically threw up three fingers, swearing with absolute sincerity.
"I promise, ten minutes! No, five minutes, and I'll be right back! If I'm not, you can do whatever you want to me!"
With that, she spun on her heel and bolted down the hall toward the restroom like her life depended on it.
Watching Bonnie flee, a complicated gleam flickered through Vivian's eyes.
"She's quite cute."
Vivian looked at Quentin and asked, "Is this your type?"
Quentin leaned against the wall, radiating sheer indifference. The moment Bonnie disappeared from view, every trace of warmth evaporated from his eyes.
"Does it concern you?"
Vivian offered a self-deprecating smile and raised her wrist to check her watch.
"Zachary should be here by now. I'll go get him."
Without another word, she turned and walked away, her posture as proud and elegant as ever.
...
Inside the restroom.
Bonnie splashed water on her face, but the girl in the mirror still looked flushed, her eyes glassy with an undeniable, lingering heat. She didn't look normal at all.
Panic began to set in.
She had less than four minutes left.
If she was actually late, there was no telling how Quentin would punish her when they got back. Honestly, she was starting to feel genuinely intimidated by him.
Just as she was frantically digging through her purse for her compact powder, the restroom door swung open.
Vivian walked in, stepping up to the sink next to Bonnie, and began washing her hands with agonizing slowness.
