Bonnie frowned in confusion. "Why? I think she's great."
"At the seminar, when everyone was calling my grandfather a quack, she was the only one willing to wait for the investigation and distinguish right from wrong. Plus, she's so accomplished at such a young age—a Ph.D. from a top university and head of R&D..."
Bonnie tried to defend Vivian.
She genuinely felt a refreshing, competent clarity radiating from the woman.
Quentin looked at her naive expression and let out a cold scoff.
"With a mind like yours, no wonder Parrish strung you along for years."
Bonnie bristled, yanking her wrist out of his grasp.
He let her go, having finished applying the ointment anyway.
Pulling out a wet wipe, he methodically cleaned his fingers, his voice turning frosty.
"Undeniably, Vivian is exceptional. Among women her age, she stands out."
"But did you know? It only took her three years to climb from a private nurse to a core R&D position at Vance Global. And in just six months, she monopolized several multimillion-dollar projects, cementing her current spot as Project Director."
Quentin looked up, his gaze razor-sharp. "Her ruthlessness and calculation are so profound that even I have to step carefully around her sometimes. What makes you think you can handle her?"
Bonnie froze.
She knew Vivian was impressive, but she hadn't realized the woman's rise was so legendary.
"Doesn't that just prove she's highly capable?" Bonnie asked, still confused.
"Capability is only part of it."
Quentin sneered, his eyes brimming with mockery.
"Manipulation is her true expertise. I need you to understand that Vivian is not someone you should befriend. She is an extreme opportunist. To achieve her goals, she will not hesitate to sacrifice anyone around her."
Bonnie's heart skipped a beat.
Looking at his serious expression, an absurd yet entirely logical thought flashed through her mind.
"Are you saying..."
"Vivian was the one who had me tied up here?"
Quentin didn't answer directly, merely holding her gaze.
"You should already know the answer. Think carefully about what she did to you today."
Bonnie pressed her lips together, her fingertips subconsciously touching them.
