I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 250

"I'll take you riding," Quentin said, placing his hands firmly on her waist, his tone leaving no room for argument. "The people here are too annoying. We're going somewhere else."

Catching a glimpse of Vivian nearby and Zachary practically eating up the drama, Bonnie finally nodded.

"Okay."

She wanted to get far away from the two of them as well, but she rode so slowly she could never shake them off.

If Quentin wanted to take her, she would let him.

But she hadn't expected his version of taking her meant them sharing a single horse.

Her feet had barely touched the ground before his grip tightened around her waist again, lifting her straight onto the massive black horse.

Then, the man swung himself up behind her.

As his broad chest pressed flush against her, Bonnie's spine instantly stiffened.

Before she could speak, Quentin wrapped one arm tightly around her waist and reached past her with the other to grab the reins.

"Yah."

The black horse immediately took off.

Sitting on his horse, Zachary watched their intimate posture and couldn't resist letting out a loud whistle.

Not bad at all. He certainly didn't waste the opportunity. The man was a quick study.

Vivian stood a short distance away, silently watching the scene unfold.

She didn't utter a word, but her fingers slowly tightened, leaving a faint indent from the leather reins on her palms.

Quentin gently nudged the horse's flanks with his legs, and the black beast carried them forward at a steady, manageable pace.

He clearly intended to leave everyone else behind, and no one dared to follow them.

The wind rushed past her ears, and the grassy plains blurred away beneath them.

Bonnie could feel Quentin's arm protectively wrapped around her waist, well aware that he was deliberately slowing down for her sake.

She slowly began to relax, leaning back into his embrace.

For some reason, even though they were moving much faster than when she rode by herself, she wasn't scared in the slightest.

The horse galloped across the pasture, following a gentle slope before easing into a lush pine forest.

The air in the woods was cooler, with sunlight filtering through the canopy, casting dappled shadows across the ground.

Noticing her ease, Quentin murmured softly, "Still scared?"

Bonnie bit her lip. "A little, when we were moving fast."

Quentin looked down at her. "Then why did you stick up for them back there?"

Staring at the forest path ahead, Bonnie knew he was referring to her forgiving Vivian and letting her tag along.

She explained, "They're your friends. I didn't want to make things awkward for everyone."

The arm around her waist tightened noticeably. "You were thinking of me?"

Bonnie stayed silent.

If that was what he wanted to believe, she would let him.

Quentin's mood visibly improved, the corners of his lips curving upward.

The horse's pace slowed to a gentle walk through the trees.
