I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 251

But things were different now. She was his wife, the woman he intended to pursue.

He didn't want her running around doing all the work while he just sat outside waiting to be served.

It was just washing mushrooms. He wanted to share even these small, manageable tasks with her.

Quentin rolled up his dress shirt sleeves, reached for the mushrooms, and began washing them meticulously.

Earlier, Bonnie had sorted out the brightly colored, suspiciously toxic mushrooms, along with a few spoiled ones, and left them by the sink to throw away later.

Assuming they needed washing too, Quentin casually picked out two of the better-looking ones whose colors didn't seem quite as bizarre. After rinsing them thoroughly, he tossed them in with the safe batch.

He tossed the rest of the ugly ones into the trash can.

When Bonnie emerged from the restroom, the mushrooms were perfectly clean and neatly stacked in a bowl. Even the counter was wiped down.

She blinked in surprise. "You... washed them all?"

She truly hadn't expected this typically aloof, powerful man to step into the kitchen and do manual labor.

In that instant, his untouchable, icy demeanor seemed to thaw considerably.

"Yes, don't underestimate me."

A hint of satisfaction tugged at the corners of Quentin's lips.

Bonnie couldn't help but smile, though she still pushed him toward the kitchen exit.

"Alright, go wait outside. I'll be done in a minute."

She tossed the bowl of mushrooms into the pot, added water and a pinch of salt, and started boiling the soup.

Despite her medical expertise, she never could have imagined that Quentin had 'rescued' the toxic mushrooms she had specifically separated out.

Once the broth reached a rolling boil, Bonnie brought the steaming ceramic pot to the table.

She served Quentin a bowl first before serving herself. The savory broth emitted a rich, mouthwatering aroma.

Quentin took a sip, his sharp features softening slightly.

"It's very flavorful."

Bonnie's eyes curved with a hint of pride. "We can forage for more this afternoon. There are a lot of ways to cook these mushrooms, but they're actually best in a hearty stew."

She looked at him with sudden curiosity. "You've never had a rustic stew like that, have you? I'll take you to try it next time."

The hand holding Quentin's spoon paused slightly.

He looked at her, a profound tenderness rippling through his deep gaze.

"Okay."

His voice was low, carrying a magnetic timbre that made her heart flutter.

"You can take me to experience everything you love, just like I brought you horseback riding."

"Riding is my favorite sport, and you are the person I want to share it with the most."

Bonnie's hand stiffened on her spoon, her ears rapidly burning red.

She never expected him to turn such a trivial conversation into a romantic confession.
