I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 65

Quentin's fingers paused mid-page. He casually tossed the magazine onto the coffee table, leaned back against the sofa, and locked his pitch-black, chilling eyes onto her.

"Let's hear it," he commanded, his deep voice entirely devoid of emotion.

But in that single instant, an invisible, crushing pressure crashed down on her like a tidal wave.

Bonnie felt the air around her grow instantly thin, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs.

Digging her nails into her palms, she forced the words out.

"Actually... I have an ex. We were together for five years."

"I recently found out that he spent all those years lying to me."

"He regained his memory ages ago but kept it a secret. He's actually the multimillionaire heir to the York family, yet he played the poor victim, draining my savings and making me work multiple jobs just to fund his startup..."

Before she could finish, a razor-sharp voice sliced through her words.

"Who did you say?"

Quentin's voice was like absolute zero, and his eyes instantly darkened into a terrifying abyss.

Bonnie nearly jumped out of her skin at his sudden fury, her body instinctively shrinking back.

She stammered, "The... the heir to the York family, Parrish York. Mr. Vance, do you know him?"

Quentin's ink-black eyes bored into Bonnie, a violent, stormy shadow swirling in their depths.

He stared at her for a full half-minute before the corner of his mouth curved up into a silent, chilling smile.

There was no warmth in that smile—only something that made her skin crawl.

A freezing sensation shot straight up from the soles of Bonnie's feet to the top of her skull.

In all the time she had known Quentin, she had never felt such suffocating dread and terror as she did right now.

Her instincts screamed that Quentin didn't just know Parrish—their relationship was undeniably toxic.

They likely shared an incredibly deep blood feud.

Pure survival instinct made her desperately backtrack to explain: "Mr. Vance, please don't misunderstand! I have absolutely zero ties to him anymore!"

"He soaked up all my care while simultaneously playing the role of Mr. York, even stringing along other women on the side."

"If I hadn't caught him red-handed, I probably would have been kept in the dark for the rest of my life."

Bonnie's eyes reddened, her voice carrying an undisguised mix of grievance and rage, though she tried desperately to hold it back. She didn't want to throw a pity party in front of Quentin.

She just wanted to prove her innocence, to show that she was nothing more than a victim in all of this.

When Bonnie finished, she held her breath, waiting in dead silence for Quentin to speak.

After what felt like an eternity, Quentin slowly stopped tapping his finger against the armrest.

He looked up, those freezing, emotionless black eyes landing flatly on her face. His thin lips parted, spitting out a single, icy command.

"Leave."

Bonnie froze dead in her tracks.

She thought she was hallucinating.
