Bonnie paused for a moment.
Her first reaction to the news wasn't relief over having to cook one less meal, but a pure medical instinct.
"You're going back to the office? Then you really need to fix your sleep schedule. You can't keep pulling all-nighters like before."
She looked at him, her tone completely genuine. "Do you need me to massage your temples to help you sleep tonight?"
Come to think of it, it had been days since she last gave him an acupressure massage.
Quentin's dark eyes shifted slightly, his gaze lingering on her face for two seconds.
"Fine."
He dropped the single word effortlessly.
Bonnie smiled, standing up and efficiently clearing the table.
Usually, the highly disciplined man would have already disappeared into the home gym by now.
But today, Quentin remained seated in the living room, magazine in hand, though he hadn't turned a single page.
When Bonnie emerged from the kitchen, she saw he was still there but didn't bother him.
She retreated to her bedroom to grab something.
Quentin kept glancing at her closed bedroom door from the corner of his eye.
He waited, and waited, but she never came out to nag him to go for an evening walk like she normally did.
His brows slowly knit together.
Snap.
Quentin slammed the magazine shut, tossing it irritably onto the coffee table before marching into the gym.
But the moment he stepped onto the treadmill, he heard a faint rustling from the entryway.
Quentin hit the power switch, stalking out of the gym with a dark expression.
He found Bonnie crouching by the door, lacing up her sneakers and clearly preparing to leave.
Quentin's brow furrowed tightly. "Where do you think you're going?"
Without looking up from her laces, Bonnie replied casually.
"Just taking care of a personal errand. I'll be back soon."
