Jasper kept his head slightly bowed, speaking to her with a gentle expression.
Then, the two of them walked into the lobby side-by-side, chatting and laughing.
In Quentin's mind, Jasper's glowing praises of Bonnie from that morning suddenly echoed loudly.
His eyes narrowed into dangerous slits, a glacial, lethal coldness sweeping through them.
He suddenly realized that the people around him were taking an awful lot of interest in his 'contractual wife'.
Crunch.
The plastic water bottle in Quentin's hand violently warped under the sheer, unconscious pressure of his grip.
He tossed the crushed bottle into the trash, wrapped in an aura of terrifying hostility as he strode toward the front door.
...
Bonnie and Jasper were still joking around as they walked in.
"Are you free for lunch tomorrow? I'll treat you as a thank you for helping me out."
Jasper smiled. "That depends on whether the boss needs me. If he doesn't have anything planned, I suppose I could—"
His voice abruptly died in his throat.
He looked up and crashed straight into a pair of deep, abyssal eyes that felt like a freezing blizzard.
Quentin was standing at the end of the hallway.
He had one hand tucked in his pocket, radiating an oppressive dominance that made it almost impossible to breathe.
Jasper stiffened, instantly realizing he was in deep trouble.
Sure enough.
Quentin's razor-sharp gaze locked onto Jasper, his voice cold enough to freeze water.
"Are you that bored?"
Jasper's scalp prickled, and he hurriedly bowed his head. "Boss."
"Go to the office tomorrow and clean my office top to bottom. Do it yourself."
Jasper was entirely dumbfounded.
Cleaning offices was literally the job of the admin and janitorial staff.
He was a gold-tier executive assistant making millions of dollars a year, handling massive corporate acquisitions. When did he suddenly become a glorified janitor?
