Dressed in a simple white t-shirt with her hair pulled into a messy bun, a fine layer of sweat beaded on her forehead.

She was bending over, meticulously scrubbing the living room coffee table, when the sound of a door opening suddenly came from behind her.

Quentin stepped out of the home gym in a gray tracksuit, his dark hair damp as he wiped away his sweat with a white towel.

He lowered his gaze, watching Bonnie scrub the table with all her might, and furrowed his brow.

"Didn't go to driving school?" he asked out of the blue.

Bonnie's movements paused, and she straightened up awkwardly.

"Ah... well, the enrollment fee is too expensive."

She offered a sheepish smile. "I'm planning to build up my nest egg first and go later when I have a bit more wiggle room."

Quentin stared at her for a second, his deep eyes completely unreadable.

He didn't say anything, merely walking over to the kitchen island to pour a glass of water before turning and heading into his bedroom.

Bonnie shrugged it off and went back to scrubbing the table.

About an hour later, her phone suddenly chimed with two consecutive text alerts.

Bonnie stood up and pulled out her phone to check.
