Chapter 2
“You vicious woman! How could you be so cruel and try to kill Abigail?!”
“You were not at home-why did you go back into the fire? Do you realize you almost got Benjamin killed!!”
“I can’t believe I married such a heartless witch! If anything had happened to them, you would’ve been a murderer!”
I had barely escaped death, my mind still hazy from the terror, when his slap knocked me to the ground.
Behind Alexander, Abigail peeked out, her face half-hidden but her voice filled with mock pity.
“Eleanor, I know you hate me, but have you ever considered how many people you could’ve killed by doing this?”
Then she leaned weakly against Alexander’s shoulder, coughing violently.
Seeing the blood on her lips, Alexander turned around and viciously kicked me just as I was struggling to stand up.
“Why didn’t you just die in that fire?!”
“I should’ve dragged Benjamin out and left you to burn!”
He looked down at me from above, eyes blazing with pure hatred.
In his arms, Abigail’s face was plastered with smug satisfaction.
I didn’t even have the strength to argue with them anymore.
I could feel blood seeping from my body.
The pain was so intense that tears streamed down my face, and my smoke-damaged throat could only manage a few hoarse words:
“Doctor… Call a doctor…”
Seeing me in agony, Alexander let out a cruel laugh.
“A doctor?”
“Did you ever think, if they had died because of you, would they even have a chance to call for a doctor?”
I stared at him, my eyes stinging with overwhelming grief.
Before Abigail appeared, he had been so excited about this baby’s arrival.
He had prepared the nursery well in advance and even chosen a name for the child- James Caldwell.
It’s my favorite name.
“Your wish is my command,” my husband said with a kiss to my forehead that night.
But now, seeing the blood continuously seeping from my body, he turned away and covered Abigail’s eyes.
“That’s disgusting. Don’t let it scare you.”

Chapter 2
“She already explained everything to me. It was you, you vicious woman! You started the fire just because of a petty argument!”
Right on cue, Abigail started sobbing again.
“Alexander, she’s trying to frame me again.”
