Chapter 100 Not Happening

When Orion was just a toddler, barely three, he’d already figured out how to cry his way into getting what he wanted.
If something didn’t go his way, or if he got into it with Demi, he’d cry nonstop until she gave in.
He cried so hard that his whole body shook. Every single time, Demi’s heart cracked. She always backed down.
Once he’d calmed down, she’d gently tell him what he did wrong.
He would nod, say he understood, and act like a good kid. But behind her back, he’d go running to Rhea, saying Demi was too harsh, always trying to control hin
But now? None of that worked anymore.
His tears didn’t move her one bit.
“M-Mom… I want a hug…” Orion choked out, voice trembling. His face looked pale like he might faint if he cried any harder.
Demi’s face stayed blank. She didn’t even flinch.
He tried it again, hoping the crying would still work on someone. Anyone.
He’d been on his best behavior these past few days. No games. No fuss. He tried hard to please Roderick and Carol.
All of it just to win Demi back. But nothing changed. No even a smile from her.
Now all the emotions he’d bottled up finally burst.
Even with Roderick and Carol trying to help, she still wouldn’t hug him.
Demi turned toward Nevin, who was still just standing there. “What are you waiting for? You want to watch him cry himself into a fever before you take him home
Nevin didn’t say a word. Was he seriously waiting for her to cave and let Orion stay?
She knew this routine. One soft moment, and they’d push her further the next time.
She wasn’t playing anymore. She had had enough of this trick.
Right before she turned to head upstairs, she said to Roderick, “If he spends the night here, I’ll leave.”
“You-” Roderick’s glare flared. He opened his mouth, then closed it again.
He didn’t defend Orion this time.
Nevin had no idea what he did to set her off again. He said a quick goodbye to the elders, then picked up Orion and walked out.
Orion stopped crying the second Demi was out of sight His body was still shaking, but the sobs had faded.
Carol walked them to the door and watched them go. She shook her head slowly.
Chapter 100 Not Happening
What Orion did wasn’t really wrong.
Kids came into this world thinking tears could fix everything.
Once they were gone, Carol spun around and smacked Roderick’s arm. Hard.
The sharp slap cracked through the air.
Roderick hissed in pain.

“You’re unbelievable,” Carol snapped. “How could you talk to your own daughter like that?” She hit him again. Twice. “If she walks out again, don’t even bother coming to me.”
“I didn’t even say anything!” Roderick said, completely stunned.
What did I even get wrong this time?
Carol let out a sigh and looked up toward the second floor. This was on her. She pushed too hard.
Next time, she wouldn’t try so hard to fix things.
Over at the Blackwell Villa, Nevin and Orion walked in without a word.
When they got to Orion’s room, the boy looked up at him and asked softly, “Did I make Mom mad again?”
He didn’t get it. He used to cry, and she’d cry too. She always forgave him.
