Ignore Hubby and Son's Regret Shining Now novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99 Delivery

Demi lifted her gaze, calm and unreadable.

The receptionist froze up. “Ms. Snow, you should probably eat it while it’s still warm…”

Her voice trailed off. She didn’t dare say Nevin had asked her to remind Demi.

Finished

Only once she got into the elevator did she let out a breath and press a hand to her chest. It felt like she’d just walked out of a war zone.

Demi’s aura was no joke.

Still, Demi wasn’t reckless with her health. Not while she was pregnant.

After finishing up her paperwork, she opened the thermal container and started eating.

She didn’t stop working until ten that night. Then she turned off the lights, picked up her bag, and stepped

out.

What she didn’t expect was to find Nevin sitting against the wall near the elevator.

He was glued to his phone, typing something fast. Then he looked up, glanced at the elevator, looked back down, and after a couple of seconds, looked up again like something finally clicked.

“Finally done for the day, are you?”

He’d clearly been waiting. Watching that elevator.

The second he saw her, he slipped the phone into his pocket and walked over.

“You hungry?”

His eyes scanned her face. She looked completely worn down. Work had drained every bit of energy from

her.

He frowned. “Wanna grab something before we head back?”

“No.”

She’d been caught off guard seeing him still here. But the moment passed, and that wall of indifference slammed right back up.

She walked straight past him. Nevin reached out and grabbed her arm. “Demi, can you just—”

She turned. Her stare was like ice. Cold. Empty.

Nevin didn’t say another word.

He paused. Took a breath. “I’ll take you home.”

He had no idea what he’d done to make her freeze him out like this.

Demi pulled her arm free. Her voice was sharp and clipped. “Don’t bother.”

“Demi, I… I’m picking up Orion anyway.”

He kept his tone light. He was trying not to fight. He figured maybe she was just overwhelmed.

“I have my own car.”

Finished

She didn’t stop. Didn’t turn around. Just pulled out her keys and pressed the unlock. Her car gave a short, high-pitched chirp as the headlights blinked.

She got in, hit the gas, and drove off without hesitation,

Nevin had no choice but to follow behind.

When they got back-

Orion was asleep on the couch, curled up in a tangle of blankets and toys.

The second Demi stepped inside, she told Nevin to carry him out to the car. But the moment Nevin picked him up. Orion woke up and lost it. “I don’t wanna go back! Mom’s not there! I wanna stay here with Mom!”

He screamed like he thought Demi didn’t want him anymore.

His little face was soaked in tears. His nose ran. He reached for Demi, wailing, “I don’t wanna go! I want Mom to hold me!”

“Sweetheart, don’t cry…”

Carol’s heart broke seeing him like that. She wiped at her eyes.

Roderick heard the noise and came downstairs. He didnt even hesitate. “May, bring Orion upstairs. Let him stay in our room tonight.”

Roderick shot Demi a look. It wasn’t hostile, but it wasn subtle either. He clearly didn’t get why she was being so harsh. The kid just wanted to sleep with his mom.

May looked at Demi, then took a few slow steps toward Orion.

But Demi stepped in front of her.

“No.”

Her voice was ice-cold. “Orion, get down and put on your shoes.” Her tone didn’t shift. Her eyes didn’t soften. There wasn’t a trace of warmth in her.

Orion sobbed so hard his little body started shaking like he might pass out right there.

He looked at Demi like he didn’t recognize her anymore. Like his mom had completely stopped loving

him.

Nevin stayed silent. He just stood there and watched his son break down like it didn’t even concern him.

Demi felt her heart lock up even tighter.

She knew what they were doing. Both of them. Father and son. Waiting for her to give in like she always did. Waiting for her to crack. Again. And again.
