But she couldn’t just say it outright.

“Orion, did you know your mom carried you for ten ful months before you were born? If she lost you now, she’d be crushed. She might not even make it.”
Orion’s eyes widened a little. So Demi really had a rough time bringing him into the world?
Rhea glanced away for a moment. If Orion followed Demi out of the Blackwells, that would be the ideal
outcome.
But the truth was, the Blackwells would never let him go.
While Rhea kept running numbers in her head, Orion couldn’t settle. Part of him wanted to go with Demi. The other part couldn’t bear to leave Nevin.
What a joke. Neither of them realized Demi had already given up custody the minute she decided to end the marriage.
Back in the CEO’s office, Nevin found out right away that Orion had stopped by the company to see Rhea, not him.
He didn’t seem bothered. Just gave a light nod like it didn’t matter.
Joe looked at him, speechless. He shook his head slowly
And this guy still wanted to get his wife back? Dragging out the divorce like he had a plan? Meanwhile, Rhea hadn’t done a single thing to help. Now even the kid had landed in her lap.
Over at Snow Group…
Demi was swamped with back-to-back tasks when her phone buzzed with a video call from Rhea.
“Demi, Orion really misses you. Let’s just chat for a bit.”

Demi scoffed under her breath. What kind of stunt was Rhea trying to pull now?
Still, she answered it.
The screen lit up, and there they were. Rhea and Orion Close.
Orion looked like he was resting against her chest.
“Mom!”
Orion’s face lit up the second he saw her.
Rhea caught the pang in her chest but kept her voice sweet. “Demi, don’t get the wrong idea. Orion didn’t

just show up here. I called and asked him to come.”
She tilted the phone slightly, giving a peek of the stylish office behind her.
“Do you want something?” Demi didn’t look at her.
Her eyes locked on Orion, cold and unreadable.
The last time at the Snow Mansion, Orion had thrown fit. Demi figured he’d been upset over the pregnancy and took it out on her.

That night, after he left. Demi couldn’t sleep. Even when she drifted off, her dreams kept pulling her back to his childhood.
Now he looked just fine. Happy, even. Laughing it up a Rhea’s side. All her worry felt pointless.
Rhea’s subtle digs and smug looks didn’t mean a thing nymore.
“Mom, you…” Orion could feel how distant she was. It sung. He didn’t think he’d done anything wrong. His voice cracked. “Are you really divorcing Dad?”
“Yes.” Demi paused. “You should’ve known that already
She told both Nevin and Orion when she walked out of that house. Told them straight up she didn’t want either of them.
Obviously, they hadn’t taken her seriously.
