Chapter 117 Encounter
Phoebe blinked. It took her two seconds to remember Orion was Demi’s son.
They hardly ever talked about him. Heck, they hadn’t even talked in years. Phoebe always forgot he even existed.
She looked around. “Where is he?”
“He’s gone.”
Phoebe parted her lips, then fell silent.
Demi felt torn. She had already decided. She didn’t want to keep Orion in her life.
But when she saw that look on his face, it hit her right in the gut.
“I’m tired. Let’s go home.”
She didn’t want to shop anymore.
“Alright. I’ll take you back.”
Phoebe gave her a cautious glance.
The scene turns to the Blackwell Villa.
Orion went home and cried in secret. Then he called Rea.
Rhea was in the middle of a work update with Nevin when her phone buzzed.
The ringtone cut through the air and made Nevin frown. He looked irritated. Rhea checked her screen and said, “Mr. Blackwell, it’s Orion. Should I step out and take it?”
Nevin nodded slightly. His eyes flickered with hesitation.
Orion called Rhea all the time. Was he bothering her too much?
He should probably give her another raise.
Rhea gave him a quick smile, answered the call, and stepped out.
If Orion hadn’t spent the last few days venting to her about Demi and begging her for advice on how to win. his mom back, she would’ve used this chance to show off their bond in front of Nevin.
“Hey. What happened?”
“Rhea…” His voice broke. He’d clearly been crying already. “I just saw Mom at the mall…”

Chapter 118 Wrong Person

Rhea narrowed her eyes. Her first thought was that Dem had gone to the mall on purpose just to run into Orion.
“So, did she see you?”
“Yeah…” Orion’s voice cracked as his eyes started filling up again. “I called her. She ignored me.”
Rhea gave a quiet smirk.
“She’s got a new baby now. She won’t care about me anymore. She’ll only love the new one…
“Rhea, Mom doesn’t love me anymore…”
Then came the sound of him crying, loud and raw, like his little chest couldn’t take it.
Rhea nearly burst out laughing. She made her voice shaky on purpose and said, “Don’t cry, Orion. My heart can’t take it. Even if Demi doesn’t love you, I still do.”
He kept sobbing for a bit. Then, maybe just to spite his mom, he said, “At least you still love me…”
Rhea felt even more pleased with herself. She didn’t hide it. She just gently pushed the idea that Orion would always be her favorite.
Once he calmed down, he sniffled and asked, “Rhea, can you take me to the mall and buy me that flute pen?”
He remembered it clearly. That woman with Demi had picked one out for the baby in her belly.
Rhea jumped in fast. “Of course. Whatever you want, Orion, I’ll buy it for you.”
If a few cheap pens could win this kid over, she had already won big.
“Thanks, Rhea. You’re the best.”
As soon as the call ended, Rhea headed back into the office.
Nevin looked up the second she walked in. She had dabbed two fake tears under her eyes.
Purposely skipped redoing her makeup. She even
Just one glance, and Nevin could tell she had been crying.
His brow pulled in. She had just been talking to Orion. Why had she ended up in tears?
“What’s going on?
“What did Orion say?”
“It’s not really anything… He…”
Rhea’s voice caught. She paused. Once she noticed Nevin’s expression darken, she finally said, “Orion said he saw Demi at the mall, but she wouldn’t even look at him. He said she only cares about the new baby now. He thinks she doesn’t want him anymore…”
Rhea knew exactly what she was doing. Nevin wasn’t stupid either. She understood what lines she could get away with and which ones she couldn’t cross.
