Ignore Hubby and Son's Regret Shining Now novel Chapter 120

Chapter 120 Doubting Herself

After dinner, Nevin and Rhea went back to the study to work. Orion quietly returned to his room.

Once he was alone, all he could think about was Demi. The way she used to always be there for him.

At the Cajun boil place.

Demi showed up outside the Cajun boil restaurant. “Phoebe, come out. I need some Cajun boil.”

She didn’t really feel hungry, but she’d just had a check-up. The doctor told her she needed to eat smaller meals more often to stay healthy.

Plain food bored her. What she wanted now was something spicy, something that made her feel alive again. That’s why she came here.

Phoebe hadn’t replied to her text though. Maybe she was tied up with something.

Demi didn’t feel like chasing her down with a call.

She just found a booth and ordered a half-and-half broth.

She was still feeling off when someone slid into the seat across from her. A soft breeze came with them, along with a faint whiff of perfume.

“Demi-uh-Ms. Snow. What are the odds? Mind if I join you?”

It was Angel. She had appeared out of nowhere, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Demi.

Demi blinked, surprised. “It’s pretty late. You haven’t eaten yet?”

It was already past eight.

“Nope. I was gonna grab dinner with someone, but that fell through. I was just about to eat alone when I saw

you.”

Angel said it casually, then sat down without waiting for an invite.

She looked at the pot and asked again, “Can I share with you?”

Demi gave a nod. Angel grinned and said, “I love spice. Miss, can you spin the pot this way?”

She waved at the server and had them turn the pot so the mild broth was facing Demi, and the spicy half sat in front of her.

Then she snuck a glance at Demi’s belly.

Demi caught it. She could tell Angel wasn’t being nosy. She just cared.

“Demi, are there any foods you’re avoiding?” Angel hesitated, then added, “Like any exotic food?”

Demi’s brows drew in just a little. She thought about telling Angel to stop calling her Demi, but since they were off the clock, making her say Ms. Snow felt weird too.

So she just gave a small shake of her head and let it go.

She’d never tried chicken gizzard before. But it wasn’t something she avoided either.

Angel tapped through the menu fast and picked out a few dishes with bold flavors.

When everything hit the table, Angel leaned over and asked, “Demi, can I get a pic?”

It was her first Cajun boil with her idol, and she clearly wanted to make it a memory.

Demi didn’t get why Angel looked so giddy, but she gave her a nod anyway.

Maybe it was Angel’s appetite. Everything on the table looked even more tempting with her around.

Demi had ordered a plate of meat. Not a huge portion, but she ended up finishing all of it herself.

“This stuff’s spicy. Feels amazing.

“Demi, wanna try the gizzard?”

Angel scooped a piece out of the pot and held it up for her.

Demi almost turned it down, but the way the red broth lung to it made it weirdly inviting.

“I’ll just try a tiny piece…”

She speared a small chunk with her fork and popped it to her mouth. It was soft, smooth, and melted the second she bit in. Not a hint of funk. Just clean, creamy lavor.

Angel saw the sparkle in Demi’s eyes instantly.

“Want some more?”

Demi gave a quick nod. Angel lit up and kept handing her bites, sharing all the things she liked and explaining how to eat them.

At the same time…

Rhea and Nevin’s car rolled up outside the building. She opened her mouth, ready to talk.

Nevin didn’t look up. His eyes stayed on his phone.

“Mrs. Blackwell just ordered more gizzard.”

He flicked his thumb across the screen. A few pictures of Demi at the Cajun boil spot popped up, taken from a table nearby.

The message listed every single thing she’d ordered.

The update came from the two people keeping watch over Demi.
