Nevin stared at her mouth in one of the photos. It must ve been really spicy. Her lips were a little swollen, but she looked like she was enjoying herself.

This made twice now Demi had gone to that Cajun place.

He hit Joe’s number. “Buy the Cajun boil place at Sunrise Avenue. Don’t waste time.”

Joe never asked questions. He followed orders like a machine.

Nevin said what he needed to, then ended the call.

Rhea turned to him from the passenger seat, stunned. She opened her mouth again, but their car pulled into the front lot before she could ask anything.

She wanted to know about that Cajun boil place.

Nevin got out fast, his stride long and sharp. Rhea had to jog to keep up.

The receptionist, who worked for Rhea on the side, spotted her and flashed a polite smile.

Rhea didn’t even blink in her direction. She kept her focus on Nevin.

The receptionist gave the faintest eye roll. Quiet, but there. If she weren’t getting paid…

“Please. She hasn’t even secured a spot, and she already walks around like she owns the damn place.”

As she caught up to Nevin, Rhea still couldn’t figure out why he wanted that Cajun restaurant so suddenly.

It was a popular spot, always packed.

She’d eaten there a few times herself. Even some company dinners were held there.

With Nevin’s position, why the hell would he care about some random seafood joint?

It had to be because of Demi.

That was the only thing that made any kind of sense.

Still, Rhea knew Demi. The girl didn’t even like spicy food. If something had a mild kick, she acted like it was fire.

Inside the restaurant, Demi was picking up a few new boiling tricks and trying out some dipping sauces.

Angel had mixed a bowl for her with a different blend, and it changed the whole flavor.

Halfway through dinner, Demi’s phone buzzed. It was Phoebe.

She’d just seen the message and asked how it was going Said she’d come over if there was still food left.

A little while later, Phoebe walked in. The three of them sat together, digging into the spread.

Without even meaning to, Demi and Angel had gotten whole lot closer.

“Mr. Blackwell, I brought some soup. Would you like some?”

It was a little past ten when Rhea knocked on the CEO’s floor and stepped in.

Nevin looked pale, worn.

“Where’d the soup come from?”

His voice was flat, but his eyes gave him away. There was a flicker of something he didn’t even notice.

He was hoping Demi had sent it.

Rhea walked over and poured the soup into a bowl. It had been sitting on the warmer all morning. “I made it last night…”

She saw his expression shift and rushed to add, “I heard you had some drinks last night. Thought your stomach might be feeling rough today…”

She didn’t say Demi was the one who told her about that condition a long time ago.

Nevin had dinner with a client last night. He could’ve refused to drink, but courtesy was still a thing, even for a man in his position.

The Blackwell Group had money and power, but they still had to play the social game.

Back then, Demi used to shield him from this kind of thing.
