Ignore Hubby and Son's Regret Shining Now novel Chapter 122

Chapter 122 Soup

But Nevin wasn’t thinking about her at all. Demi was still the only one on his mind.

He finished eating. Rhea quietly gathered the bowl and left.

Only then did the burning in his stomach start to fade.

The office door opened again. Joe walked in holding a file. It was the contract for that Cajun boil place over on Sunrise.

“Mr. Blackwell, the owner wants ten million.”

The restaurant was packed every day. It was turning a real profit. No way the guy was in a hurry to sell.

Joe had been talking him down for two straight days. This was the lowest he’d go.

Nevin frowned. He picked up a napkin, wiped his mouth, then flicked it into the trash from across the

room.

He reached out, and Joe handed over the folder.

It had the restaurant’s full financials.

“We confirmed their monthly revenue runs between 700,000 and 850,000. Net profit’s around 300,000.”

Nevin flipped through the paperwork while Joe went over the rest.

Two floors, five private rooms, 38 tables.

Ten million wasn’t cheap, but it wasn’t a ripoff either.

Nevin never wasted money. Even if he was buying this place for Demi, he’d make sure it stayed in the black.

“Sign it.”

He looked through the rest of the file. “Add a clause. They can’t use the Cajun boil recipe to make money anywhere in Holocross for ten years. And for the next three, no opening another Cajun boil place here.”

Joe gave a nod and left the room. Nevin picked up his phone. He was going to ask Demi to lunch.

This restaurant would be her gift.

The hospital.

Demi walked out holding her test results, Angel right beside her.

Phoebe couldn’t get away from work, but she didn’t want Demi going alone. So she asked Angel to help.

After their last Cajun boil dinner, Angel had grown closer to the group.

And since she was Demi’s assistant, it just made sense.

“Demi, want me to drive you home?”

“Let’s go back to the office.”

Chapter 123 Back to Work

Angel looked like she had something to say, but in the end, she said nothing and got into the driver’s seat.

Demi followed, still thinking about what the doctor told her. She needed to eat more.

But it had been two days. Instead of gaining weight, she dropped another two pounds.

Her phone buzzed on her lap. “Demi, want to grab Cajun boil for lunch?”

Nevin.

Her eyes darkened. How the hell did he know she’d been craving Cajun boil lately?

She ignored the message. Even if she were in the mood the last person she wanted to eat with was Nevin. That’d just kill her appetite.

Back at One Studio, they both went their separate ways.

Nevin didn’t get a response, but he didn’t seem fazed. That afternoon, Joe signed the transfer contract.

The place had already been moved under Demi’s name. She just didn’t know it yet.

“Get someone from procurement to buy the freshest meat and vegetables they can find. Use the restaurant’s menu as a guide.”

As soon as Nevin confirmed that the Cajun boil place at the intersection belonged to Demi, he pulled someone from Blackwell Group’s procurement team to handle its ingredient sourcing.

One of the reasons he bought the restaurant in the first place was because he didn’t trust how fresh their food was.

Joe clicked his tongue quietly.

He couldn’t get over how different Nevin had become lately.

Later that night, Demi was still at her desk.

She didn’t dare ask for dinner from home. If Carol and the rest found out she was splitting her time between two companies, they’d lose it.

She was just about to place an order when someone knocked on the door.

“Come in.”

“Ms. Snow, my mom sent a ton of food. Want to share?”

Angel walked in with two oversized insulated food jars in each hand.

“Thanks, but I’m fine.”

Demi’s brows pulled together. Her voice was cold, her stare even colder, as she looked Angel up and down.

“It’s just homemade food…”

Angel figured she was just trying to be polite. Maybe she didn’t want to look like she was imposing.
