Chapter 17 Orion Went Missing

“Alright, I can do that in half an hour. Yeah, let’s meet at the same café where Demi and I met last time.”
Wayne hung up. He stared at the phone screen for a few seconds, as if he could see Nevin through it.
Back then, when Demi suddenly got married, she cut ties with everyone. Seven years had passed, and she hadn’t even gone home once.
After all those years, she’d risked everything just to get a divorce and walked away with nothing. Wayne was curious to see what kind of man Nevin really was.
Half an hour later, Wayne arrived ten minutes late.
Nevin was already there, waiting.
It was probably the first time Nevin had ever had to wait for someone. His face clearly displayed he didn’t like any of this.
“You must be Nevin,” Wayne said.
He wore a sharp gray suit, the kind that made him look like a proficient attorney who got things done.
Nevin, on the other hand, had that natural air of power–like a CEO who was used to being obeyed.
The moment they met, they both decided they didn’t like each other.
Wayne glanced at the table where he and Demi used to sit. “Mr. Blackwell, you probably don’t know this table was the one Demi and I reserved just for ourselves.”
He added casually, “Demi really likes the coffee here. I might grab a cup for her later.”
Nevin’s eyebrow twitched..
He kept saying her name–Demi this, Demi that–and it made Nevin’s brow twitch in irritation. Just a lawyer, huh? How long could he have even known her? And already he was acting like they were close.
“Mr. Hudson,” Nevin said coolly, “let’s get straight to the point.”
Half an hour of background checks had told Nevin that Wayne was a top–notch lawyer. He never lost a
case.
“I want you to refuse Demi’s divorce case.”
Nevin’s finger tapped lightly against the table. Normally, with his personality and style, he’d take a tougher approach. But he knew the man sitting across from him wasn’t simple.
Wayne stayed silent, his sharp eyes glinting with amusement as he watched Nevin.
Nevin spoke again, “Whatever conditions you want, name them. I’ll offer you at least double what Demi’s

Wayne let out a short laugh. “Well, you certainly live up to your reputation, Mr. Blackwell. Always so generous.”
He paused, the smile on his lips widening. “But I’m afraid you’ve misunderstood. My relationship with Demi isn’t something money can measure.”
His tone carried a deeper meaning. “So, Mr. Blackwell, I’m afraid your money’s useless to me.”
Nevin’s gaze turned sharp as a blade.
If looks could kill, Wayne would’ve died several times over.
But Nevin had clearly misunderstood. His voice dropped, harsh and threatening. “Mr. Hudson, have you considered the consequences of getting involved with a married woman?”
Wayne chuckled.
“A married woman?”
He looked genuinely entertained.
“Funny–since you seem to remember you’re a married man.”
Nevin continued to threaten him. “Mr. Hudson, you’re a respected attorney. You should have some sense of decency. Being a homewrecker doesn’t exactly look good on your record.”
Wayne’s smile faded, replaced by sharp sarcasm. “You’re right. Being a homewrecker isn’t decent.” He leaned forward slightly. “But tell me, Mr. Blackwell–does cheating make you any more honorable?”
Nevin froze, his brow tightening. Did Wayne just imply he was the one having an affair?
