Orion was still too young to fully grasp what Nevin meant. He only understood that he wasn’t allowed to hit people.
Nevin didn’t correct him.
By the time they arrived back at Blackwell Villa, Orion had already calmed down.
Nevin accompanied him upstairs and took out the homework the school had assigned for him to complete.
Watching the little figure sit at the desk with such a serious expression, Nevin quietly stepped
out.
He returned to the bedroom, his expression momentarily distant.
Demi hadn’t been back in days, yet traces of her were everywhere in the room.
Nevin walked straight to the balcony, staring at a particular spot as he pulled out a cigarette from his pocket.
He hadn’t smoked in a long time. In the past, he would occasionally have one with clients during business dinners.
After getting together with Demi, because she didn’t like the smell of smoke, Nevin rarely smoked anymore.
Later, after Orion was born, he never smoked at home again.
He exhaled a stream of smoke.
Only when half the cigarette remained did Nevin finally dial Demi’s number.
He was prepared for her to refuse the call.
But this time, she answered quickly.
A subtle joy bloomed in Nevin’s heart. “Demi.”
Her name came out husky and low, as if filled with tender affection.
Ripples stirred in Demi’s heart. For a moment, her memory seemed to drift back to years ago.
But it lasted less than half a second before her cold voice cut through.

Hearing the coldness in her voice, Nevin swallowed the accusation that had been about to burst out and returned his tone to normal. “Orion got into a fight at school today.”
Demi frowned but said nothing.
If Nevin thought this would make her come back, he was dreaming.
From the moment she decided on divorce and gave up on the two of them, she had no regrets.
“A classmate said he didn’t have a mother to pick him up from school and that his mother cheated and didn’t want him anymore. That’s why Orion got angry
That’s why Orion got angry and beat up that kid.”
Nevin pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Demi, can you please stop being mad at Orion? You’re still mother and son at the end of the day. He cares about you, so he can’t stand anyone saying a single bad word about you.”
Demi continued her silence.
Her maternal feelings for Orion had been completely exhausted through his repeated betrayals.
“Besides, Orion is still so young. Our divorce will cause him serious harm. Demi, even if it’s just for Orion’s sake, can we not get divorced?”
After Nevin finished speaking, even his breathing grew lighter. He practically held his breath, waiting to hear Demi’s answer.
“No.”
On the other end, Demi exhaled. “Orion won’t be sad for long. With Rhea there, he’ll accept reality soon enough.”
Nevin’s brow furrowed deeply. Why did she have to bring up Rhea? Was she really that bothered by Orion liking her?
“I’m asking you not to divorce for Orion’s sake. What’s the point of bringing up Rhea?”
“Ha. Nevin, are you playing dumb, or do you think I’m an idiot?”
Demi shot back sarcastically. She knew exactly what his relationship with Rhea was. Did he think he could fool her? Did he think she was blind?
“Dad, I don’t understand this problem.”
