Chapter 38 Proving Herself
Demi laughed mockingly at herself and was about to close the app when she saw Rhea had posted another update.
“Accidentally nicked my fingertip just a tiny bit. It didn’t even bleed, but someone got all worried and put a Band-Aid on it for me.”
The photo showed Rhea’s left hand with a Band-Aid on it.
Demi coldly closed the app.
She’d only been gone a few days, and Nevin and Rhea were already flaunting their relationship so brazenly?
At the Blackwell Villa, Orion had already gone upstairs to do his homework.
Demi had always wanted him to do well in school. He had to work hard and get even better grades.
Rhea was in a foul mood as she waited for Helga to clear the dishes. She said goodbye to Nevin before leaving.
“Hmph, ungrateful brat!
“He kept saying he hated Demi and didn’t want her as his mother. But the second she left, he acted like he was dying and begged for her to come back!”
Driving home, Rhea couldn’t help cursing out loud.
She’d worked so hard to prepare an entire spread, but Orion didn’t give her an ounce of respect. He’d taken two bites and stopped eating.
Nevin had barely eaten anything either.
What a complete waste of her time and effort.
Rhea resented Orion for being so clueless and ruining her plans. How was she supposed to find excuses to visit Blackwell Villa now? How could she create opportunities to be alone with Nevin?
After Nevin and his son went upstairs, she’d dumped the food and posted on Instagram.
It was set to be visible to Demi only.

Finished
Over the next few days, Demi was swamped. She barely had time to think about Nevin and his
son.
Besides the exhibition designs, she had to study Snow Group’s operations and absorb mountains of internal documents and data.
Seeing Demi so busy she hadn’t left her room in days, Roderick couldn’t help but say, “Demi, just familiarize yourself with the company’s upper management and board members. The project development and partner stuff can wait.”
“Don’t worry, Dad. I can handle it.” Demi looked up at Roderick.
Her spacious room was filled with stacks of folders covering the desk and floor.
They all contained Snow Group’s internal documents and data. Studying these would help her understand the company’s structure and progress as quickly as possible.
“Sweetheart, I’m throwing this gala to announce you as my successor and pave way future. I’m not asking you to stake everything on this.”

Roderick said with concern. His daughter was so focused on work that they had to remind her
to eat.
The lights in Demi’s room usually stayed on until 3 or 4 a.m.
“I’m still around. Those old-timers at the company won’t dare to mess with you. You don’t need to rush like this. Nobody’s going to push my daughter around.”
According to Roderick’s plan, Demi would join the board of directors as soon as she entered the company.
With him keeping the board in check, they wouldn’t dare to go too far. Given enough time, she’d eventually be able to hold her own,
Demi understood what her father meant, but having worked her way up from being Nevin’s secretary, she knew how complicated running a company could be.
She naturally couldn’t let her guard down.
“Dad, I’m your daughter. How can I let people look down on me the moment I walk into the company?” Demi raised an eyebrow.
Those sharks on the board weren’t easy to deal with.
