pry.
She couldn’t meet with Nevin, so she had Lewis make an excuse that Roderick was away on a business trip to get rid of him.
Demi had thought that nearly running into Nevin at the office that afternoon was scary enough.
She hadn’t expected that after working overtime until 10 p.m., she’d run into him again at a
restaurant.
The restaurant was about to close.
Demi had simply ordered a plate of pasta and sat by the window eating when Nevin suddenly walked in.
“Eating dinner this late?”
It was hard to tell if he was concerned or just curious about why she was eating so late.
“None of your business.”
Demi had been busy all day without even time to drink water. Now she was starving. She shot Nevin a cold glance and dug into her pasta.
She’d even ordered a large plate.
Nevin frowned. Watching Demi eat so hungrily, she looked rather pathetic and desperate.
Had leaving him brought her so low that a plate of pasta felt like a feast?
“Demi, stop this nonsense and come home with me.”
Nevin was so used to seeing Demi in expensive clothing that he completely overlooked how pricey her current suit dress actually was.

Demi kept her head down, eating. Nevin’s arrival had dampened her appetite.
Nevin’s face darkened. “Fine, Demi. You’re dead set on this divorce?”
Seeing Demi’s current state, something flickered in Nevin’s eyes.
“Since you want a divorce, fine. But you need to pay child support for Orion, right? His tuition is hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, custom-tailored clothes every year, transportation
costs…”
Demi didn’t understand what Nevin was getting at with all this. She found him incredibly annoying.
Nevin smirked as he enunciated each word. “For Orion’s child support, I’ll need ten million a year from you. That’s not too much, is it?”
Demi had chosen to leave with nothing. She shouldn’t have much money on hand.
Her previous attempt to sell Blackwell Group shares proved she was broke.
Nevin had made an outrageous opening demand that would hit Demi’s weak spot directly.
Ten million a year? She couldn’t earn that in ten years of work.
But very quickly, the smile froze on Nevin’s face as Demi slapped a bank card down in front of him with a sharp crack.
“There’s over 12 million in the card. Use the extra two million for Orion.”
Demi finished her pasta in a few quick bites. With her stomach warm, much of her exhaustion faded away.
She wiped her mouth, stood up, and walked toward the door.
“I’ll text you the PIN.”
Nevin rarely showed shock, but he watched Demi walk away in stunned disbelief.
It took him a long time to recover.
The bank card sat on the table before him. His phone vibrated with a text showing six zeros.
