Rhea put on a pitiful act, looking as if she wanted Demi to stay, while subtly implying that Demi was simply being dramatic and using this as leverage over Nevin.

The truth was, the moment Demi announced her resignation, Rhea nearly burst out laughing.

Sometimes when you’re speechless, you just have to laugh, Demi sneered inwardly.

“Oh, then I guess I won’t quit.”

Rhea’s expression changed for a second before she forced a smile. “That’s wonderful news, Demi.”

“You look like you’re forcing that smile.”

“Demi, I truly want you to stay. If you’re leaving just because of me, I’d feel awful…”

“Rhea, you should know your place. No matter what’s going on between you and Orion or you and Nevin, it’s best if you keep your problems away from me.” Demi gave her a final warning.

Nevin’s affair wasn’t just Rhea’s fault; she wasn’t going to pin everything on her and let him off the hook.

With that, she grabbed her phone from the table. “I’m done here. Nevin and his son are all yours.”

For the first time, Rhea realized she was just a joke.

She thought she’d stolen what Demi valued most, only to find out it was something Demi didn’t

even want.

Demi had no idea what Rhea was thinking. She went back to her office, packed up her things,

and got ready to leave.

Suddenly, Nevin burst in and locked the door behind him.

“Demi, you’re really set on divorcing me? You really want nothing to do with Orion?”

His eyes were red, whether from anger or something else.

“You should have gotten the court summons by now, Mr. Blackwell. We’re both adults. I’m not wasting any more time with you.”

Demi barely looked at him as she continued to gather her things.

Her box was full of random items and a little notebook she’d made herself.

Crash!

Nevin knocked the box off the table, spilling everything across the floor. “I’m not letting you leave!”

Demi’s bright, clear eyes were suddenly cold as ice.

Nevin’s anger hit a wall the moment she looked at him.

“Even if we get divorced…”
