“I just grabbed a bottle from the wine cellar and poured it into the decanter after opening it. I didn’t add anything else. Is there something wrong with the taste?”
Nevin stared at her for a long time, making Rhea hold her breath without realizing it.
“The wine’s fine.”
There was something more behind Nevin’s words. The wine was fine, but he wasn’t so sure about the people.
“So what is it then…” Rhea acted unfazed, even pretending to be curious.
Instead of answering, Nevin said, “Ms. Dunn, as my secretary, you should know your place. Don’t do anything that crosses the line.”
He tapped his fingers lightly on the table, a clear warning not to overstep.
Rhea’s eyes filled with tears. She choked out, “Did Demi get upset because I cooked dinner for Orion last night?”
She forced herself to swallow her anger, not daring to let Nevin suspect she had drugged him.
She just had to keep up the act. “From now on, unless Demi allows it, I won’t see Orion again.”
She acted like she knew nothing about last night, as if Nevin was only warning her because of Demi.
“It’s nothing. Don’t overthink it.
“Get back to work.”
“Yes, Mr. Blackwell.”
Once Rhea left, Nevin rubbed his forehead.
Last night… Could it have been that Demi’s presence triggered something in his subconscious, making him drink too much and lose control?
He took out his phone and looked at Demi’s number on the screen, but didn’t press call.
The next day, after catching up on her delayed work, Demi made an appointment for a checkup at the hospital.

After ending the call, Demi headed to the underground parking lot.
