Chapter 11
Cade’s words struck like a bolt of lightning.
“That’s not all,” Cade took out his phone and pulled up an investigation report. “Most of her husband Carson’s compensation was actually lost by her in gambling. The reason she returned to the
country to find you wasn’t homesickness at all-it was because she owed a huge amount to loan sharks abroad and couldn’t survive there anymore.”
Greyson’s pupils contracted violently as he snatched the phone, his fingers trembling as he scrolled through the evidence.
What he had believed to be weakness, helplessness, and pity was, beneath the surface, nothing but sordid schemes and lies.
Even her so-called “hemophobia” and “stress disorder” were all just acts she put on for him!
When Greyson returned to the temporary rented apartment, carrying a chill and murderous intent, Sylvia was applying a face mask, humming a tune, and seemed to be in a very good mood.
Seeing him come back reeking of alcohol, she immediately put on a worried expression and hurried over to him.
“Grey, why did you drink so much? Are you still upset about Allison?” She reached out to support him. “Don’t worry, Allison is just angry for the moment. Once she’s suffered enough outside and runs out of money, she’ll come back on her own.”
“Get away.”
Greyson suddenly flung her hand away with such force that Sylvia fell directly beside the coffee table.
She looked up in shock, meeting Greyson’s bloodshot, terrifying eyes, which were filled with rage and disgust.
“Grey… what’s wrong with you?” Sylvia’s heart raced. “Did I do something wrong?”
“What is that smell on you?” Greyson suddenly approached, staring at her intently.
Sylvia’s eyes flickered. “It’s nothing, just… a new perfume…”
