Joshua glanced up. “You plan to stand there all morning?”

My phone buzzed. A message. I read it and smiled slightly.
“I hope your schedule is clear for the business summit next week,” I said.
He had overheard. A knowing smile spread across his face. “My partner is formidable.”
The next day, I worked. I compiled Harvey’s weak points and sent them to Joshua’s assistant. In the files, I found proof of my parents’ tax evasion and Serena’s embezzlement, I sent it all to a financial reporter.
That evening, restless, I walked into the garden. On the terrace, Joshua sat with friends, laughing.
One noticed me and grinned. “Mrs. Elliott! Come join us!”
