Chapter 94
Chapter 94
“Liora, she’s already passed away. Technically, her death should’ve settled everything. But since you’re asking, be honest you today so you don’t end up resenting us because of someone else’s lies
Old Mrs. Shannon looked at Liora with sorrowful eyes.
“Do you even know where your parents’ accident happened?’ Her brows furrowed deeply. “It was near Bo remotely close to Hawaii. But you, who were in the accident with them, somehow ended up in Hawai
Liora had no idea where her parents accident took place. This was the first time she had ever heard of it Shocked, her ears started ringing with a chaotic, buzzing noise
“Before your grandfather passed, he had someone investigate thoroughly. It was Olivia who brought you back–not that you were sent straight to the orphange!” old Mrs. Shannon continued. “When we finally found you back then, you were She cut herself off abruptly.
In the end, she didn’t mention Sebastian.
“You were in a fragile state and extremely attached to Olivia. We old folks were terrified you’d be traumatized again, so even though we knew Olivia was suspicious, we chose to stay silent. We swallowed the truth and let it go. But when Luke came ba and you started recovering, she suddenly reappeared, trying to stop your engagement to Luke. How could I stay quiet then? asked her what happened back then, where she found you, and she refused to say a word! That was her guilt talking! I didn’t e her right then and there-I just told her to get lost and never come near you again. That was the most mercy I could give!” Old Mrs. Shannon grew more agitated, slamming her hand on the table.
Liora listened, her heart aching like it was being torn apart.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
She had grown up with Olivia. No one knew better than she did what kind of person Olivia was.
She was the kindest soul in the world.
For the children in the orphanage, she would have given her very life.
Yet in Old Mrs. Shannon’s mouth, she’d been turned into a sinister woman who had trafficked her away!
“Sweetheart, don’t cry!”
Seeing Liora clutching her chest in anguish, tears falling like rain, the old woman panicked. It reminded her of her own daught who had once cried like this in front of her. Her heart ached terribly as she hurried to stand.
Liora raised her hand to stop her.
“She’s not a human trafficker!” Liora signed furiously at the old couple. “She was my mother! She was the woman who raised me! How could you do this? You threatened her, intimidated her, made her so scared she only dared see me one last time on b deathbed, and died alone in that run-down hospice! For what? Just because of your baseless suspicions, without a shred of proof, you sentenced her like that?!”
At the time, everyone in the Shannon and Hughes families had known Olivia was dying of cancer.
“Sweetheart, she-” Old Mr. Shannon stood, wanting to say something.
Liora had never lashed out at them like this before.
She’d always been so obedient, so thoughtful. With her around, their twilight years had been peaceful and full of warmth. “Save it,” Liora raised her hand and interrupted coldly. “Why was the accident in Boston, but I grew up in Hawaii? I’ll figure that out myself. But I know one thing for sure-Olivia would never have done anything to hurt me.”
“Even if she didn’t hurt you, even if she just picked you up from the crash site-she’s still the reason we didn’t find you in time!” Old Mr. Shannon snapped, furious at Liora’s defense of Olivia. “Do you know how many people your grandfather sent to look fo you? If she hadn’t taken you, you would’ve been brought home. That Jennie would never have had the chance to take your plac

ver foul out what caused my parents’ deaths? Was it murder, an accident, or suicide? Liora asked coldly
The two siders froze, tusir brows knitted in silence.
Even after all these years, they still didn’t know the truth
“And yet, without even knowing how they died, you blamed Olivia for everything is she just an easy target for you?” Liora laughed through her tears, the irony almost comical “What if just what if if she hadn’t taken me away, I’d be dead too?
The old couple had no response
Liora smiled
These people, perched high above, would never truly consider lives like Olivia’s. They held the power to decide life and death. and they simply needed someone to take their anger out on
“You bullied her because she had no power, no status, because she was dying… and because she loved me,” Liora signed, fists clenched tightly
If Olivia had been even a little selfish, she would’ve come to find her long ago.
Why wait until her final breath just to see her one last time?
“Sweetheart, don’t be so upset.” Old Mrs. Shannon finally panicked.
“I’m not your sweetheart,” Liora calmed herself, lips curling into a bitter smile as she signed slowly. “Your sweetheart’s alread dead. Did you forget?”
Old Mrs. Shannon stood frozen, staring at her in disbelief.
“Liora!” Old Mr. Shannon barked, then quickly turned to comfort his wife.
Wiping her tear-streaked face, Liora raised her chin. “The reason I came here today, aside from finding out who threatened my foster mother, is to inform you of something else.”
“Liora, you’re not thinking clearly. Go back to your room and cool off. Then we’ll talk,” Old Mr. Shannon ordered, his tone firm a unquestioning.
But Liora showed no fear at all.
She had always known why the Chandlers treated her so well.
It was because she reminded them of their late daughter.
They projected that love onto her.
Liora, who had also lost someone she loved deeply, understood. She had accepted it. She had even felt guilty when she decid
to divorce Lucas.
But now…
Olivia’s painful, drawn-out death had brought everything to an end.
“I’ve signed the divorce papers with Lucas.”
“Ridiculous!” Old Mrs. Shannon was stunned for a moment before he exploded.
She had heard whispers earlier that morning but thought it was a misunderstanding-probably something stirred up by Jenni at the last family gathering.
She refused to believe Liora would actually divorce Luke.
Everyone knew how much she loved him.
“If you don’t believe me, you can ask Lucas.” Liora paused and let out a long breath. “This will be the last time From now on, we’re done.”
“Sweetheart, what are you saying?! Are you abandoning your grandparents” Old Mrs. Shannon was sturned.
