Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 753

Caroline's face drained entirely of color.

She shrieked in protest, "On what grounds are you arresting me?! I didn't do anything! Amelia fell off the building herself! It has nothing to do with me!"

The Major gave a brief look, and several soldiers immediately stormed into the apartment.

Caroline backed away frantically, grabbing anything she could get her hands on and hurling it at them.

"Get away from me! Get out of here!"

She tried to make a run for the bedrooms, but before she could cross the threshold, the highly trained officers had her pinned.

"Let me go! You lapdogs, let me go!!" Caroline shrieked, struggling violently. "Clive, Clive save me!"

"Hold still!"

Watching Caroline being securely restrained by two soldiers, pressed against the wall as cold steel handcuffs snapped around her wrists, a flash of pity crossed Clive's eyes. He took a half-step forward, but the Major leveled him with a cold, warning look.

"Mr. Salmeron, I highly advise you not to interfere with an official arrest! Doing so will only bring unnecessary trouble to the Salmeron family," the Major stated firmly.

Clive stopped dead in his tracks.

Standing behind him, Liana watched the scene unfold, a tiny smile playing on her lips.

She had initially worried that Amelia might have a sudden bout of bleeding-heart sympathy and let Caroline off the hook. Thankfully, she hadn't. Otherwise, Liana would have had to put in the effort to silence Caroline permanently.

"Take her away!" the Major ordered. Caroline was hauled out the door.

"Clive, Clive save me! I don't want to go!!" Caroline sobbed and screamed, genuine terror finally setting in.

But Clive simply stood in the doorway, watching her being dragged away with a heavy heart but making no move to stop them.

Listening to his sister's wails fade down the hallway, Clive closed his eyes. It felt as though all his strength had been drained away, leaving him unsteady on his feet.

Penny buried her face against Liana, rubbing affectionately against her coat. "Mommy, did you miss me too? Is that why you came to find me so quickly?"

Liana smiled gently and patted the top of Penny's head. "Sweetheart, I'm not your mommy."

Penny tilted her head up. Taking a closer look at the severely bruised face that looked so much like Amelia's, a flicker of confusion crossed her large eyes. Immediately, she let go and stepped back, looking completely lost.

Clive quickly scooped his daughter into his arms and explained, "Baby, she's not Mommy. You got the wrong person."

Liana stepped forward with a warm smile, intending to introduce herself, but Clive casually yet firmly blocked her path.

The meaning behind the gesture couldn't be clearer: he didn't want her anywhere near his daughter...

"Wait here in the lobby for a moment. I've asked Aiden to come and take you to the hospital. I'm going to take Penny home first, and I'll come check on you later."

The smile on Liana's lips faded, but only for a fraction of a second before she replied as gently as ever, "Of course, Mr. Salmeron."
