Violet reached out, trying to grasp Eugene’s sleeve, but he pulled away, avoiding her touch.
If you looked closely, you’d see his eyes were rimmed red.
“Don’t come looking for me anymore. Don’t contact me again,” he said quietly.
Violet froze, stunned by how suddenly Eugene’s attitude had shifted.
“Eugene…” Her voice trembled with hurt. “What’s wrong? Aren’t we friends? Why—”
Just then, the door swung open. Lennon stepped out and, catching sight of Violet, his gaze darkened.
“Eugene, go inside. I’ll speak with her.”
Eugene kept his head down as he slipped back into the house. Lennon closed the door behind him and looked down at the woman in the wheelchair.
“Ms. Scott, I believe everyone needs a bottom line—a line you never cross, no matter the time, place, or circumstance. That’s something I’ve always lived by, and today I’m passing it on to you. I hope you’ll take it to heart.”
Violet frowned. She wasn’t naive; she could hear the accusation in Lennon’s words, but she chose to play dumb.
“You’re absolutely right, Mr. Martinez. I’ll remember that.”
“If you truly understand, then don’t come looking for Eugene again. He’s too innocent, too easily misled.”
Violet’s composure cracked. “What exactly are you implying?”

People say small acts reveal true character. How could someone so kind ever do something as cruel as pushing her sister down the stairs?
And then there’s Violet—outwardly sweet, inwardly cunning. Every word she speaks nudges things in the worst possible direction. She even brought up “organ transplant rejection,” as if planting seeds for something worse.
She wasn’t just stirring up trouble. She wanted Ruby dead.
Violet fell silent at Lennon’s words, her face growing cold under the streetlamp’s glow.
Lennon watched her carefully, certain he’d read her right. He felt a surge of anger and, for his son’s sake, a deep sense of injustice.

I hope this couple gets back together and he is the donor for his daughter. Thank you for the new chapters....
How come in every novel I read on here the women don’t tell the men they are the father of their child? I find this ridiculous....
