After their visit to the Entomological Museum, it was still early—not even ten o’clock. The museum had a small gift shop, so Amelia approached a staff member to ask where she could find the souvenirs.

The staff member was busy organizing the merchandise, so Amelia decided not to disturb her. She figured she’d wait until everything was sorted, then take her time browsing. In the meantime, she took Ruby for a little walk around the area.

When they came back, the staff member was packing the souvenirs into specially made clear boxes, each item grouped neatly as if being prepared for storage.

“Excuse me,” Amelia asked politely, “are these not for sale?”

The woman kept working, deftly packing up an array of insect specimens and replica models. “They are for sale—but a gentleman just bought all of them.”

Amelia blinked in surprise. “All of them?”

She looked at the two large, brimming transparent boxes on the floor. “You mean one person bought this entire collection?”

The staff member nodded. “That’s right. Apparently, he’s giving them to his daughter.”

Ruby crouched beside one of the boxes, her gaze locked longingly on a blue butterfly specimen inside. She reached out and gently brushed her fingertips against the box, making it obvious how much she wanted it.

Amelia turned to the staff member again. “Is there any chance that blue butterfly specimen is still available?”

“I’m afraid each specimen is one of a kind. There aren’t any duplicates.”

Amelia hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Would you mind reaching out to the gentleman for me? I’d like to buy that butterfly if he’s willing to part with it.”

“Sorry, I don’t have his contact information,” the staffer replied apologetically. “But I can check with my colleagues.”

She quickly pulled out her phone and typed a message. Moments later, a coworker sent over a QR code.

“Here’s the gentleman’s contact info. You can scan this and ask him directly.”

Amelia scanned the code with her phone. The instant she hit “add contact,” something about the profile picture felt oddly familiar—but she’d already sent the request before she could process it.

The request was accepted immediately.

As the chat window popped up, Amelia suddenly realized who it was. Oh, no…

“If you want to add me, just do it—no need for all the cloak and dagger,” a low, amused male voice sounded behind her.

The staff member looked up, clearly stunned. Oh my God, he’s handsome.

Ruby burst out laughing, her little shoulders shaking. Uncle Daniel was hilarious—she could picture the whole thing.

Amelia was about to call him out when Daniel smoothly set his trap. “Whoever’s my daughter gets all the souvenirs. So, who wants to be my daughter?”

Bunny, sweet and innocent, never stood a chance against a seasoned trickster like Daniel. She shot her hand into the air. “Me!”
