Even though Logan and Lisa had grown up together like siblings, the truth was—they weren't.
Martha still felt that their interactions were too intimate, so she could only use this way to remind them.
"I've been cleaning her ears like this since we were kids," Logan said naturally as he finally freed Lisa's hair. He helped her sit up and even smoothed her tousled hair.
"What was okay as kids isn't the same now. You're both almost 30, and you both have relationships. If your partners saw this, they'd misunderstand," Martha pointed out bluntly.
Of course, Lisa and Logan weren't children anymore—they fully understood what Martha meant. But Lisa, being the contrarian she was, deliberately said, "Well, they're not here, are they?"
"You!" Martha pointed at her, exasperated. "If I say you're young, you're almost 30. If I say you're mature, you act like an idiot. Get over here and help me already!"
Scolding Lisa was what Martha did best.
"I'll go." Logan stood up.
"Not you. She goes." Martha shot him a look, stopping him in his tracks.
Lisa lazily stretched as she got up. "Fine, fine, I'll go. If she doesn't yell at me, she'll bottle it up and end up with a blocked artery or something."
Logan was about to say something, but Lisa shot him a quick wink before walking over to Martha, casually draping an arm around her shoulder.
"Mother dearest, it's Dad's birthday today. No anger, no stress, okay?"
Martha followed her gaze to the kitchen where Baldwin was, clenched her jaw, and jabbed a finger at Lisa's forehead. "One day, you're going to be the death of me."
"You and Dad are going to live to a hundred. You still have to see me married with kids." Lisa grinned, coaxing her.
As it turned out, even the most short-tempered, prickly people liked being sweet-talked.
But once they stepped into the kitchen, Martha still scolded her.
"Lisa, your uncle is a grown man, and you're a grown woman. You're not kids anymore. From now on, keep some distance and be mindful of boundaries."
