Lisa hung up, feeling restless until the end of her shift.

She had never been so eager to return to Logan's place. When she returned, he wasn't there, which was unusual for someone who was always punctual.

She called him. "Uncle Logan, why aren't you home?"

"I'm at the manor," he replied, which only made her more anxious.

"Is Ms. Cohen there too?" she asked.

He responded with a hum before saying, "If you have time, you should come over too."

This reminded her of the time he jokingly told her to be prepared for emergency first aid.

Considering her grandparents' age, they might not be able to handle such a shock. It would be better for her to be there to keep an eye on things.

Lisa rushed to the Cohen residence. She found her whole family gathered together. Her parents were seated on either side of her grandparents, likely prepared for anything unexpected.

Logan was sitting alone on a couch, looking like a prisoner being interrogated.

However, this "prisoner" wore a high-end tailored suit, making him look more like the one interrogating the older generations.

The atmosphere in the room was tense. Martha's eyes were red from crying, Nadine was wiping away tears, and Alistair's face was grim.

Lisa took a deep breath before walking in. Although she knew what had happened, she still tried to lighten the mood by asking, "Why is everyone so quiet?"

Martha shot her a glare as if she were an innocent victim caught in the crossfire.

That phrase again. He had used it to brush her off, and now he was using it to dismiss everyone else.

Lisa couldn't stand it anymore. "Uncle Logan, why are you making such a public display of cutting ties with the Cohens? Does it make you feel embarrassed to be part of the family?"

"I'm not severing ties," he denied. "I just want the public to know I'm not biologically related to the Cohens."

She was genuinely perplexed. "Why do you need to make that public?"

His gaze deepened as he looked at her. "Do you really want to know?"

"Yes," she replied firmly.

"Fine. I'll tell you," he said, taking her hand. "Come with me."
