"Sure!" Xander was quick to agree.
Lisa silently gave me her approval. She was already experiencing the kindness I had described about him.
She sent over the address of a café near his workplace. Before she could even prepare what to say, Xander had already arrived, apologizing as he sat down. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
With each passing moment, her admiration for him grew stronger. She was even more convinced that asking for his help had been the right choice.
Lisa was no stranger to him, but she couldn't help but study his face. He was wearing rimless glasses and a casual suit with neatly pressed trousers. He wasn't breathtakingly handsome, but he had a certain charm.
Most importantly, he was always smiling, the kind of smile that brought joy to everyone around him.
It was once thought that a woman's smile was a sign of good fortune. But men who smiled often could bring prosperity too.
"Why did you call me here just to check out my pretty face? Aren't you going to buy me a drink?" he teased, sitting down and catching Lisa staring at him.
What could have been an awkward moment turned amusing with his comment, and she felt more at ease. "Yeah, you're pretty handsome. You'd make a great boyfriend."
Xander had already heard everything from me, so he wasn't surprised. Yet he still played along, feigning shock. "Dr. Carline, are you hitting on me?"
Lisa got straight to the point. "Yes, Mr. Roulder. Are you interested?"
He looked at her. "I need some time to think about it."
"Okay, I'll get you a cup of coffee. You can think about it while you drink." She was making it clear she expected an answer right then and there.
Fortunately, he was prepared for this. Otherwise, he would've jumped out of his skin.
Lisa ordered coffee. As he took a sip of his, he asked, "Do you want me to be your boyfriend because you genuinely like me, or is this just a fling?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I admired about you, Mr. Roulder. And don't worry. I don't have any other intentions. We'll just be acting."
"I love acting! I've dreamed of being an actor since I was little, but those directors missed out. Dr. Carline, on the other hand, saw something in me." He agreed readily.
She breathed a sigh of relief. "Now, Mr. Roulder, please let me know if you have any additional requirements, including your fee."
"We're all friends here, so just give me whatever you think is fair." He was such an easygoing person.
Lisa felt more convinced that she had made the right choice in selecting Xander. All problems were solved now, except for one issue that she found awkward to bring up.
However, she knew she had to mention it.
After taking a few sips of her coffee, she finally spoke up. "Mr. Roulder, since we're a couple now, I'll move in with you after this."
