Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 953

I didn't know what pregnancy was like for others, but my legs were so swollen.

"Well, you're quite in the know. Great, now you can start shopping for that wedding gift." His attitude was really on par with Lisa's.

"Dr. Carline wasn't being serious. Don't take it seriously," Brandon cautioned.

Xander chuckled. "Why can't I take her seriously? If I treat her with sincerity, she'll surely see it. Who knows? Maybe she'll fall for me, and this act will become real."

He seemed quite confident.

"I'm serious. I wasn't joking." Brandon and I thought he was just kidding around.

There was a pause on the other end of the line before he spoke up. "Me too. I've been into Dr. Carline for ages. It's like the universe is finally on my side."

I was taken aback and looked at Brandon.

He raised an eyebrow. "Are you serious? Dr. Carline is definitely not serious. I need to warn you not to dive in headfirst, or you might drown with no way back up."

"I get it. But where there's a will, there's a way, right? So don't stress about me. And tell your wife to chill out about her friend. We're all grown-ups here, so let's just mind our own business." Xander, being clear-headed, was now lecturing us.

The call ended, and Brandon looked at me. "See, I told you."

"I need to warn Lisa about Xander's feelings for her. She needs to be careful. If he truly falls for her, she'll end up hurting another man."

I couldn't help but sigh inwardly when I said that. Lisa was like a flower—when she bloomed, she attracted suitors everywhere.

Brandon didn't try to hold me back, passing me my phone. But as I reached for it, a sudden, sharp pain shot through my stomach. "Ow!"

I let out a gasp, and he immediately tensed up. "What's wrong?"

Brandon then lowered his head to my belly. "Baby, did you hear Mommy? You shouldn't be so rough on her. Save some of that strength to unleash on me after you come out."

That made me laugh, but I knew he was worried about me.

I reached up to stroke his hair. "This child must take after you. He's so strong and..."

But before I could finish, I caught a glimpse of a figure lurking at the entrance of our estate.

It was crystal clear, no doubt about it.

This person was acting suspiciously. A typical customer would walk in without hesitation, but this one seemed to linger and lurk.

I had a bad feeling about this. "Brandon, someone's watching us from outside."
