Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 973

I stared at the messages Lisa had sent me, sensing that something was off. I called her, but she declined the call and sent a message instead. "I'm at my grandpa's, and Ms. Cohen is here too."

I had no choice but to continue to text her. "Did Logan upset you today?"

She responded with a string of ellipses, which only piqued my curiosity. "What's going on?" I asked.

Her response was brief. "He brought his girlfriend home today."

Along with her message, she sent a screenshot of a payment receipt. "Look for the highlights."

When I zoomed in on the image, I noticed the words "acknowledgment gift".

"Wow! He's so generous—an acknowledgment gift of 999 dollars. What did you acknowledge that's worth so much?" I was surprised.

Lisa sent me a voice message explaining the situation. At the end, she said, "He said he'd had a crush on me for ages, and then suddenly he's got a new girlfriend. What a hypocrite!"

I didn't respond, instead turning to Brandon and nudging his hand with my foot. "Tell me, Mr. Howell, what's going on?

Logan and Brandon had a special relationship. Though they seemed to have little interaction and rarely sought each other out, I sensed that they were close. This became apparent from the help Logan gave him while handling the Griffinses' affairs.

Brandon had overheard Lisa's voice message and shook his head. "I don't know."

I wasn't convinced. "You really don't know?"

He nodded, and his expression didn't seem deceitful, making me feel guilty for doubting him.

"Then at least tell me what Logan is up to. He doesn't seem like the type to love one person one moment and another the next," I asked him, still confused.

"You can't say he's being a jerk. He's been quietly liking Dr. Carline for so many years, which shows he's loyal. As for him moving on now, it's understandable. Sometimes, it's better to give up on a hopeless wait."

His words left me momentarily speechless.

"If she were to be with him, she'd have to bear the pressure from family and public opinion. If they weren't together, I could sense that she had fallen for him. I'd be in the same dilemma if I were in her shoes." I sighed.

"This is just like when you found out that my father had caused that car accident, killing your parents, right?" Brandon brought up the past again.

It was indeed so.

"I think their situation is nothing compared to ours. Once he reveals his true family background after midnight, everyone will know that he's not biologically related to the Cohens. If they end up together, people will likely stop gossiping and recognize that they're a perfect match. This way, the Cohens won't lose Logan and will actually bring him even closer," he said.

He did make sense and I looked at him. "I think you're trying to play Cupid and use me to convince Lisa."

"Wow!" he exclaimed in surprise.

I was confused. "What's wrong?"

As I waited for his response, I nervously looked at the spot where he was massaging me.
