Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 980

Just as Lisa was about to ask what he was doing, she felt a sudden tightness around her wrist. A sharp pain shot through her wrist bone, and the heavy weight in her hand vanished.

Logan held the bracelet, gazed at her for a few seconds, then turned around.

Watching his back, Lisa's mouth moved, but she ultimately didn't say anything.

She was going to return it anyway. If he wanted to return it for her, she might as well let him. It would save her from having to explain herself.

However, she wondered what reason he would give when returning it on her behalf.

Feeling awkward about going back inside, she decided to send Xander a message. She told him she had an emergency at the hospital and needed to leave immediately.

At times like these, she couldn't help but be grateful for her noble profession. She could use it as an excuse anytime. No one would question her, given that it was a matter of life and death.

After leaving the Roulder residence, Lisa came to my tea house. To my surprise, she brought me a bouquet of flowers today.

"To what do I owe this unexpected pleasure?" I joked happily as I accepted the flowers.

"The winds of fate, my friend," Lisa replied, looking at my belly. "Your baby is growing quite fast, isn't it?"

Since she was a medical professional, this comment made me nervous. "Is there something wrong?"

"No, but I want to remind you to watch your diet. Don't eat too much, or you and the baby will suffer during delivery," Lisa explained.

I glanced at the "caretaker" inside, who had been trying all sorts of recipes to cook delicious food for me. If the baby, or I gained too much weight, he would definitely be the culprit.

"You see him every day, and it's still not enough for you, huh?" Lisa teased.

I looked away and called out, "Brandon, dear."

Brandon immediately responded, "Coming!"

Lisa chuckled. "You two are really like an old married couple now."

I corrected her. "We're inseparable."

I wasn't that curious anyway, so I just treated it as a joke.

"You're dressed quite differently today." I noticed something unusual about her.

Lisa usually kept her makeup minimal and dressed simply for work, especially since she had to scrub in for surgeries every day. But today, she wore a bright outfit and had a subtle, elegant makeup look. It made her appear especially lovely.

"Why? Can't I dress up?" Lisa asked, taking another sip of her coffee. "By the way, Mr. Howell's coffee-making skills are almost as good as yours."

The old saying was true—teach everything to your apprentice, and they would surpass you. I had already noticed that Brandon's coffee, with his careful grinding and brewing, had a richer flavor and a purer taste.

Brandon was someone who, once he started something, would strive to be the best at it.

"Don't change the subject," I said. "You're not dressing up for a blind date, are you?"

"I went to meet his family." Lisa recounted her experience at the Roulders. Then, she said, "Why do I have such a complicated history with Logan? It feels like we're destined to bump into each other everywhere."
