It seemed like Ellie was like a child going through a rebellious phase. If we pushed her too hard, it might backfire. If she didn't want us to ask, we could find out behind her back.
"Fine, but you need to tell us when you're leaving," Brandon said, looking at me before responding to Ellie.
She seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. "I'll leave when the break starts."
"When is it?" Brandon asked.
"Next Friday!"
Brandon nodded. "We'll pick you up and take you to the airport on Friday."
But Ellie refused the offer point-blank. "No way."
Brandon's eyebrows tightened, a telltale sign that he was suppressing his emotions. Noticing this, I jumped in and said, "Are you going with someone?"
"Yes, with a... senior." Ellie couldn't even look me in the eyes while saying this.
I could pretty much guess who this senior was.
I subtly kicked Brandon under the table, and he said, "I'll transfer some money to you. Let me know when you arrive and send me a photo every day. And if anything happens, let me know right away."
Ellie agreed to all of Brandon's requests. When he invited her to stay for dinner, she said she had to go back to study for exams.
After Ellie left, the three of us were silent for a while. Finally, Lisa broke the silence. "When a young woman grows up, she's bound to leave the nest. If Ellie does end up with Keith, it might not be a bad thing."
I glanced at Brandon, but he didn't say anything. He just turned and went inside.
Lisa nudged me. "Is he feeling like a father about to give away his daughter?"
"Probably. He's always raised Ellie as if she were his own daughter." I sighed.
But I knew Brandon had other concerns. After all, Keith had been with Lisa before.
Lisa dodged and we played around for a bit. Then, she steadied me and said, "You go inside and keep your man company. Try to talk some sense into him."
"What about you?" I asked her.
"I'm going to find my own man." Lisa sighed. "This is ridiculous. Even Ellie has someone who cares for her, and I'm still single and alone."
"Why don't you try going after Logan?" I encouraged her.
Lisa waved at me and left. I was lost in thought for a moment before entering the estate. Brandon was on the phone, and if I wasn't mistaken, he was calling Keith.
I didn't disturb him. Instead, I quietly went over and sat down to the side.
"Okay, let's meet up. You decide on the place and let me know." After saying that, Brandon hung up and sat beside me.
"I need to have a talk with Keith."
