Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 986

Lisa was led away by Logan. He walked in front, while she followed behind, clutching the oversized coat he had draped over on her.

The coat carried his cedarwood scent, which kept drifting to her nose with each step. Perhaps it was the wine she had drunk earlier, but her head felt heavy and dizzy.

Her steps were unsteady, and even Logan walking ahead of her seemed to sway.

However, the moment they stepped outside, the cold air hit her like a slap in the face, instantly sobering her up.

She shivered, pulling the coat tighter around herself. Only then did she realize Logan was wearing nothing but a thin shirt. She quickly called out, "Uncle Logan."

Logan strode on, ignoring her, either out of anger or because he hadn't heard. He didn't break his pace.

One walked ahead, the other followed behind. She looked like a naughty child trailing a strict adult—too afraid to rush forward or slow down for fear of getting lost.

The cold was biting, and Lisa worried that Logan would catch a chill dressed so lightly. She wanted to return his coat to him. She quickened her pace to catch up but lost her balance and fell forward.

With a thud, she fell hard on the ground.

A sudden, intense pain pierced Lisa's knee. She gasped as a towering figure loomed over her. Immediately, his large hand, so familiar to her, clamped down on her ankle.

Logan's cold gaze fixed on her scraped wound, then swept across her face. He moved her knee joint while holding her ankle.

It hurt, but she could move it.

"There's no bone fracture." Lisa, being a professional doctor, knew better.

Indeed, the bone wasn't injured, Logan had checked.

He was about to stand, but halfway up, Lisa grabbed his shirt hem. "Uncle Logan."

Leaning over her with a slight curve in his back, he met her gaze as she looked up at him. He stood, and she sat, locked in a silent standoff.

"Uncle Logan, help me up. I don't think I can get up on my own." Even though her bones weren't broken, her injury was quite painful. The biggest problem was she was too dizzy to stand on her own.

She would even get a piece of candy—Logan's secret weapon to stop her from crying.

Lost in these memories, her eyes fixed on Logan in a daze.

He seemed to sense it, and his eyes, darkened by the night, softened. He crouched down again and gently scooped her up in his arms.

As he stood, Lisa's head spun from the movement and instinctively wrapped her arms around his back. The solid muscles beneath her fingers made her grip tighten. She couldn't help but imagine what he'd look like without his clothes on.

Besides, she had seen him naked before.

A faint blush rose to her cheeks. Even though she knew he couldn't see her face, she felt a twinge of embarrassment. Unconsciously, she buried her face into his chest. Her hot breath seeped through his flimsy shirt, sending shivers down Logan's spine.

However, Lisa felt an indescribable sense of comfort. The pain in her knees had subsided, and she no longer felt cold. Her dizziness had also eased significantly.

Having Logan around was a blessing. With him by her side, it felt as if he could keep all the unpleasant things in life at bay.
