Did Logan show any resemblance to the Cohens now?
Lisa called him her uncle, and even if he didn't like her, he shouldn't have ignored her.
The two of them locked gazes in a standoff. After a few moments, Logan relented. Her tiny face was growing increasingly red and raw from the cold. If they stayed out any longer, she'd freeze.
He picked her up again, braving the wind and snow. This time, he placed her in the back seat of the car.
Before, she always sat in the front passenger seat, but now she wasn't even worthy of that.
It wasn't clear whether it was the alcohol or the shock affecting her. She curled up and buried her face in her knees.
Logan took in every detail of her reaction. He even knew what she was thinking. His heart ached, but he had to be ruthless. Only by doing this could he force her to be brave—brave enough to move forward without hesitation.
By the time they arrived at Logan's place, Lisa was fast asleep. Logan gently picked her up, noticing her eyelashes were wet with tears.
He leaned down and kissed her eyes. "Little Quail."
That night, Lisa slept deeply, without a single dream.
When she woke up, the sky outside was bright, and the snow had stopped. She looked around at her surroundings and remembered what had happened the night before.
Her heart felt a chill, even though it was early morning.
Logan was truly a heartless and cold-blooded man.
She got out of bed and stood by the window, looking at the snow outside. She took a photo and posted it on social media without any captions.
As soon as I saw it, I messaged her. "Why do I smell loneliness and sorrow?"
Lisa responded immediately, "You have no idea how it feels to be in my shoes."
To get back at her, I sent a photo of Brandon and I posing with the snowman he had built for me earlier that day.
Lisa responded with "Friendship over!" and an emoji of despair.
I reminded her, "You can always go find your uncle."
Lisa went to Logan's closet and picked out one of his shirts, holding it up against herself. It was a bit large, but it would do as a nightgown.
Though she wasn't entirely happy about the situation, Lisa still felt completely at ease in the warm bath.
As she soaked in the tub, she reflected on her behavior earlier. Although partly influenced by the alcohol, it had been her way of testing the waters. But it seemed her probe had failed, now it seemed that Logan wasn't interested.
She told herself to stop having any improper thoughts about him and just think of him as her uncle.
After all, there were plenty of other men in the world.
She would never shamelessly cling to someone who didn't want her.
The bath not only revived her body but also cleared her mind. She stepped out of the bath and slipped into Logan's shirt—bare-skinned—to avoid any lingering scents.
She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and was startled by the image. His loose shirt ended just below her waist, revealing her long, slender legs. The sight was undeniably sexy.
Unable to look any longer, she quickly left the bathroom. She went to the living room to make herself some coffee when she heard the car engine. Looking outside, she saw Logan returning.
