Luna's Deadly Deception: How She Made Her Alpha Pay novel Chapter 117

They went to work in packing all my belongings, boxing the fragile things that needed boxing. I stood by the door, watching as they went about their work and trying to ignore the pang that rang in my chest.

"Oh, Thea. You're here already." Mody had popped out of nowhere.

I sent her a hum in reply and turned back to watching the maids. I could already pick up the scents of Bella and Madison.

They were in the palace somewhere. I just didn't know where yet. I maintained my indifferent act, pretending not to notice their presence.

The maids weren't as energetic as they should have been. Some of them were even lounging on the chairs, a couple of them just standing without doing anything.

"Why are you just lazing around?" Mody yelled in anger. "Do your work immediately or I will have you all punished."

If they heard her, they made a point of pretending they didn't. Mody, on the other hand, was fuming with anger. She looked like she was about to explode at any minute.

"That's enough of this." I said, my voice firm as I regarded the maids. They all turned to me immediately.

"Do your work properly."

They all nodded their heads, and immediately got to it on doing their jobs. Mody's face had turned an unnatural shade of red as she fumed. I couldn't imagine how embarrassing it must have been.

She managed to mask her anger pretty quickly, turning to me with a sickly sweet smile on her face.

"Would you like to stay for dinner?"

I laughed to myself, unable to hold back. "This might be my last dinner at this place."

"Then it's settled." Mody smiled.

At the table, Mody helped me to my seat before taking hers. Bella and Madison were already seated there. I ignored the scathing looks they sent me and tried to focus on my reason for being there.

I was just there for dinner. Nothing more, nothing less. Mody fished out a platter of cookies and handed me one.

"Try it. I made them myself." She smiled.

"Thank you." I took a cookie and nibbled on it.

Still watching her, I took a big bite of it and pretended to swallow. There was a glint of satisfaction in her eyes as she watched me.

Some seconds later, my eyes shut and I grabbed my head. "I…feel dizzy. What…"

Mody took out her phone and punched in a few numbers before putting it against her ear. A few seconds later, she perked up.

"Hello. Where are you?" She asked.

After a small pause she went on. "Oh good. There's something you need to know."

I had to step up my act a little. Reaching out to her, I tried grabbing on to something to stabilize me and eventually dropped to the floor.

My eyes were shut and my whole body limp as I laid on the ground. Thanks to my wolf senses, I could keep up with where the three women were at all times.

Bella nudged me with her foot. When I didn't move a muscle, she let out a cackle. It was pretty obvious that she was relishing every single moment of this.

I had to get in touch with Jane now. Else, they'd get the upper hand somehow. I poured all my focus into getting in touch with her.

Jane.

What is it, she asked through the mind link.

There's something I need to tell you. We have to hurry as there's not much time. I explained through the link.
