Luna's Deadly Deception: How She Made Her Alpha Pay novel Chapter 9

Kieran frantically sent a mind-link message: "Love, we were supposed to celebrate together. Don't be angry. Where are you? Let me come to you."

The link bounced back - she'd severed their mental connection completely.

"Alpha, your Luna said the box holds her answers," the secretary prompted, offering the gift again.

Inside, Kieran found their ceremonial mate-robes shredded to ribbons. The collar piece still bore Thea's hand-stitched rune for "Luna-mate."

He clutched the fabric, nearly collapsing. "This can't be... she wouldn't destroy our bonding robes..."

Last year's anniversary flashed through his mind. Thea presenting him with his robe, eyes full of love: "In my heart, you're my mate and I'm your Luna. I cherish every moment with you. But if you ever stray, if you make me lose faith in our bond, I'll destroy these symbols myself and leave forever."

Under the shredded robes lay their mating certificate, torn to pieces. At the bottom - their completed bond dissolution papers.

"You retrieved the pre-signed papers from the vault?" Kieran rasped.

"The dissolution is already registered with the Pack Council," the secretary confirmed.

Kieran swayed. "Impossible... she can't just leave..."

"Let's see what's happening upstairs!"

On the third floor, Kieran found the hallway lined with his and Aurora's ceremony photos. A banner proclaimed: "Celebrating the Mating of Kieran & Aurora."

"This... this is Thea's surprise?" he choked.

Inside the ceremonial hall, the massive crystal displays cycled through their dissolution papers, all ninety-nine mating photos with Aurora, images of him dining with her family...

Kieran collapsed into a chair, his world shattering around him.
