Kieran's memories flooded back. Thea must have known about Aurora all along. Her empty eyes at lunch, that final "goodbye" - it had been a true farewell.
He'd foolishly thought his secret was safe. It had just been physical with Aurora, never his heart...
"Where is she?" he asked the secretary desperately.
"Luna Thea forbade me from telling you."
Suddenly, Aurora burst in wearing ceremonial robes, all traces of her earlier "weakness" gone. "Is this my surprise? A mating ceremony? I love it!"
"Who told you to come?" Kieran's face darkened. "Leave. We'll talk later."
"But you arranged this, didn't you? As your future Luna, I should be here!" Aurora pouted. "Why didn't you tell me you'd dissolved your bond with Thea? Were you planning to surprise me?"
Before Kieran could respond, pack members flooded the hall. The crystal displays showed everything - their dissolution papers, mating photos, family dinner...
"She must have used his communication crystal to taunt Luna Thea!" someone realized.
The pack erupted in outrage. "Such a brazen homewrecker!"
Kieran advanced on Aurora, eyes blood-red. "You said you needed my crystal for pack business, but you used it to torment my mate? I warned you - I'd give you anything except Thea's peace of mind! I told you she was my only true Luna!"
His heart ached imagining Thea's pain each time Aurora's taunts arrived. If Thea had done this to him, he'd have gone feral...
