"Wow."
"Her gown is so beautiful?"
"How did I not notice it before?"
"She looks gorgeous in it."
And just like that, the talks had gone from Bella's amazing love to just how gorgeous my gown looks.
I stopped just a little distance from Bella, sending her a small smile before finally turning to the crowd.
"Thank you for your words, Bella." I started before shifting my focus to the crowd. "I'd like to once again thank Bella for this opportunity and all the things she's said this night."
It was hard not to laugh at the unnerved look on her face. Sending her one last smile, I turned back to the crowd.
"I know it seems a bit out of the blue that I'm saying this but I just had to apologize to her before at least making a donation." I said, the smile never leaving my face.
Bella's face twisted into something nasty, anger burning behind her eyes. If I could read her correctly, I bet she couldn't just wait to transform and tear into my flesh.
Zack had a look of irritation in his eyes. He was probably pissed that I was stealing his fiancée's thunder.
I turned back to the crowd, my smile never wavering even once. "And that's because the painting's a fake."
"Do you know what you're saying? How dare you slander me!"
The loud screech had come from none other than Bella herself. Her face read pure anger as she glared at me like I was the spawn of a vampire.
"Excuse me?" I asked, an innocent look on my face.
"How dare you come here and try to ruin this for me?" She fumed. "That painting was a symbol of love from my mate and you stand there with all that audacity, claiming it's fake?"
I shrugged. "I'm just pointing out the observation I made after studying it."
"Well you and your observation can go fuck yourself." She yelled in anger.
The crowd was starting to murmur among themselves, seemingly shocked at Bella's behaviour. The sweet lady who had been all so gentle and waved at them with kindness was completely gone.
There was a particular gait of protectiveness in the way he stood before me. He had Bella's hand in his grasp, preventing her from moving even further.
She visible paled under his glare. He narrowed his eyes on her for a while before pushing her hand away.
A small whine left her lips as she pretended to nurse her hand like it had somehow been injured. Her eyes flicked between me and Haelor for quite some time.
Then just like that, tears began to fall down her cheeks. She whipped her head towards Zack and threw herself into his arms.
Zack patted her on the back before proceeding to glare daggers at us. I wasn't the slightest bit fazed by his look and neither was Haelor.
"It's okay, baby." He smoothed down her silky hair. "You don't need to cry."
"But she's, she—" Bella barely finished her sentence before she began to cry again.
It was getting annoying hearing her wail and cry so much. I rolled my eyes helplessly.
This is where the crying starts? Would she go crazy if she saw me touching Haelor's abs and kissing him?
