The sheer volume of the scream made Nora jolt in terror, but before she could even pull back, the heavy arm clamped around her waist hauled her flush against a solid chest.

Hudson possessively tucked her into his side without an ounce of panic. He lazily shifted his gaze toward the veranda, his expression flat and thoroughly unimpressed.

Leo was standing at the top of the stone steps, looking like he was about to blow a gasket. His jaw was clenched so hard it looked painful, and his furious eyes were completely fixated on the way Hudson's hand casually rested on Nora's hip.

His older brother had bled and fought on absolute hellscapes, risking his life for his country, and he had finally, miraculously found himself a girlfriend. Was that so easy to come by?

His own best friend was stabbing him in the back and stealing his girl right out from under him!

“Hudson!”

Leo barked out his full name, his voice practically trembling with righteous rage. “Do you even know who the hell she is? Stealing your best friend's woman... have you lost your damn mind?”

Nora blinked in total confusion.

His brother's woman?

Was he talking about her?

“Leo, you've completely misunderstood...”

“Shut up!” Leo unleashed his fury on her. “Jade, do you even have the audacity to speak? You are my brother's girlfriend! And you're out here messing around with another man? Have you no shame at all?”

Nora stood frozen under his vicious tirade, completely torn between laughing and crying. The accusation was so absurd she didn't even know where to begin defending herself.

Since when was she Gavin Hamilton's girlfriend?

What kind of insane delusions were running through this kid's head?

Hudson's brow furrowed, his dark eyes instantly plunging into an icy, lethal freeze.

“Leo, do you have a death wish?”

His voice was terrifyingly soft, yet the sheer malice dripping from every syllable sent a violent shudder straight down Leo's spine.

Normally, a warning like that from Hudson would have him bolting for his life.
