Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 129

"Wait... stop..."

Sensing her resistance, Hudson pulled back slightly, his chest heaving, his voice hoarse with unsated desire. "What's wrong?"

Nora's face was burning, a brilliant flush painting her cheeks.

She bit her lower lip, her wide, panicked eyes darting up to him. "I think... my period just started..."

She had been so hyper-focused on organizing Leo's schedule all week. Even during the afternoon rehearsal, she had felt a heavy ache in her lower back and stomach, but she had dismissed it as exhaustion.

Only now did it finally dawn on her that she was due.

Hudson's Adam's apple bobbed. He narrowed his eyes just a fraction, as if trying to decipher whether she was playing a cruel joke on him.

Blushing furiously under his intense scrutiny, Nora whipped her head away, unable to maintain eye contact.

"You... you need to let go of me."

Hudson took a deep, shuddering breath, forcibly crushing the raging fire in his veins. He finally released her, vaulted down from the saddle, and reached a hand up to her. "Come down."

Nora placed her hand in his, letting him guide her safely to the ground.

The second her boots hit the dirt, the cramping flared up again, and her face visibly paled.

Hudson caught the grimace instantly, his brow knitting in concern. "Are you hurting?"

Nora shook her head, biting her lip so hard she nearly drew blood. Her voice dropped to an agonizingly embarrassed whisper. "Do you... do you happen to have any... tampons?"

The second the words left her mouth, she wanted the earth to split open and swallow her whole.

What kind of idiotic question was that?

Obviously, he wouldn't have tampons just sitting around!

But she didn't have anyone else to turn to...

She knew before they even arrived that the equestrian center wasn't officially open yet. Aside from a few stable hands, Grant was the only other person here...

And she definitely couldn't ask any of them.

The nearest convenience store was a few miles down the mountain. She couldn't just tough it out—at this rate, she was going to ruin her clothes.

Taking a steadying breath, she mustered every ounce of courage she possessed and looked up at him, her face as red as a tomato. "I really think... I just started my period. And I didn't pack anything in my bag."
