Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 291

Jade slumped on the floor, her hair a tangled mess, her face covered in blood.

The left side of her face was severely swollen, her lip split open. Her right wrist hung at a sickening angle. Even the slightest movement sent agonizing pain through her body, reducing her to a sobbing mess.

"Jade!" Marcus rushed forward first. "Are you alright?"

Penelope threw herself to the floor next. Seeing the bloody state of her daughter's face, her voice trembled. "Call... call an ambulance!"

Marcus scrambled to pull out his phone and dial 911.

Jade leaned against Marcus, trembling uncontrollably from the pain. Tears mingled with the blood smeared across her cheeks.

She tried to speak, but the simple act of parting her lips made her gasp in agony. All that came out were muffled whimpers.

Penelope was beside herself with heartache. She whipped her head around to glare at Nora. "Look what you did! Jade is your sister. How could you just stand there and let a stranger beat her? Do you have no conscience at all?"

Nora's eyelashes fluttered.

"If she tried to hit you, you should have just moved out of the way! Why did you let your guard hit back? Look at Jade's face. Look at her wrist! If she ends up with permanent scars, are you going to take responsibility for ruining her life?"

Penelope's fury only grew, her voice shrill. "I swear, Nora, if she has lasting damage from this, I will make you pay!"

Standing behind Nora with her arms crossed, Olive watched the dramatic display with a blank expression before letting out a scoff.

"I was the one who hit her. It has nothing to do with Mrs. Lancaster."

"Shut up!" Penelope snapped, glaring at the bodyguard. "Who the hell do you think you are? You have no right to speak here!"

Olive arched a brow, a cold smirk playing on her lips. "I work directly for Mr. Lancaster. Why don't you tell me who the hell I am?"

Penelope choked on her own words. Her lips parted, but she didn't dare challenge Hudson's authority. She settled for shooting one last venomous glare at Nora. "I'll deal with you when I get back!"

Nora stood frozen in place, her brow furrowed.

In the past, Penelope's blatant favoritism would have left a suffocating wave of despair in her chest.

But now...
