Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 33

Meanwhile.

Nora Reed sat confidently across from her interviewer.

The woman in her thirties was sharply dressed, her rapid-fire questions revealing a no-nonsense attitude.

"A piano performance major from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, mentored by Professor Elena Thorne?" She scrutinized Nora's resume. "Why would a protégé of Professor Thorne want to be a mere assistant at Star Entertainment?"

"I hit a rough patch and lost a few years."

Nora answered smoothly, completely omitting the car accident and her hearing loss. "I want to start fresh and build my experience from the ground up."

The interviewer nodded, satisfied with the straightforward response.

She flipped the page. "Do you have any experience with music arrangement?"

Nora blinked. "Yes."

"We're currently developing a music reality show and need an agent with a strong musical background."

The interviewer closed the folder and looked up at her. "Our music director assistant position is currently filled. However, we can bring you on board as an agent first. You'll manage the artists' schedules and assist the music department whenever possible. If you prove your skills, we can arrange an internal transfer later. How does that sound?"

Nora frowned slightly.

An agent?

It was worlds apart from a music director assistant, but she wasn't worried about proving her worth.

She hadn't just been an assistant before; she had been a fully-fledged music director.

Reclaiming her place in the industry was only a matter of time.

A confident smile touched her lips. "I accept."

"Excellent. Head home and prep. Report to HR tomorrow at 9 AM."

...

Back in the hallway.

Edmond stepped out of the conference room to get some fresh air. From the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a familiar silhouette.

Edmond's expression darkened.

He had waited over an hour for this?

"Who bought it?"

"I..." The secretary stammered. "He didn't disclose the buyer's name."

Edmond clenched his jaw, fighting the urge to tear the room apart. He took a deep breath. "Call him right now. Tell him I want to speak with him directly."

"He's currently occupied, I'm afraid that's not possible..."

Edmond glared at her, turning on his heel and storming toward the elevators.

His assistant scrambled to keep up, terrified to even breathe.

...

At the same time, Nora had just finished her interview and taken the elevator down to the underground parking garage.
