Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 32

"Mr... Mr. Sterling?"

Edmond took a deep breath, forcing down the suffocating wave of frustration. "Go buy a local San Francisco SIM card. Right now."

The assistant nodded frantically and scurried out the door.

Edmond leaned back against the leather sofa and closed his eyes.

Nora's little temper tantrum was lasting much longer than he anticipated.

She had thrown fits before, but she always called him within a day.

But this time...

It had been four entire days.

He opened his eyes, staring out at the bustling city below. A gnawing sense of unease twisted in his gut, a nagging feeling that things were spiraling out of his control.

His phone suddenly rang.

He glanced at the caller ID and exhaled sharply. "Yeah."

"Hey Edmond, you busy?" It was a well-known jewelry designer friend.

"I emailed you the updated sketches. Take a look when you have a minute."

"Got it," Edmond replied curtly.

"By the way, when are you and Nora finally tying the knot?"

Edmond froze. "What are you talking about?"

"Come on, don't play dumb," his friend chuckled. "The ring Nora ordered from me a while back... do you like it?"

His breath hitched.

Ring?

"What ring?"

"The men's band..." the friend said, sounding confused. "She asked me to custom design it for her proposal. Don't tell me she hasn't given it to you yet? Oh man, did I just ruin her surprise?"

Edmond remained silent.

"I spent a month working on that piece and shipped it to her last week," the friend continued. "You're a lucky guy, Edmond. Having a gorgeous woman like Nora so utterly devoted to you..."

They exchanged a few more pleasantries before hanging up. Staring at his phone, Edmond let out a low chuckle. The tension that had been suffocating him for days instantly evaporated.

He would graciously accept her proposal, and they could finally move past this absurd argument.

With his mind at ease, the last traces of his anxiety faded away.

He checked his watch again, raising an eyebrow. An hour had passed, and Grant was certainly taking his sweet time.

He was pushing his luck.

"Go see if Mr. Hamilton's meeting is over yet."

The assistant hurried off again.

Edmond stood up and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, taking in the panoramic view of the Bayside Business District.

He narrowed his eyes with predatory ambition.

Once he locked down Star Entertainment, the Sterling legacy would be firmly rooted in San Francisco.

And when Nora finally returned...

He would show her just how powerful her man had become.

She would never dare threaten to leave him again.
